Questions & Answers

17Questions12Answers

What grade of wood is this. Select, #1, #2??

Asked by Andrew April 12, 2021
1
Answer

The product’s grading showcases the natural characteristics of the Red Oak species, such as all naturally occurring light/dark color and grain variation, occasional mineral streaks and closed burls. Although there are no universal grading standards for engineered flooring as there are for solid floors, this product would compare most favorably to Select and #1 Oak, which allows color variations produced by natural heartwood and sapwood, small tight knots, burls, streaks, etc. *Please note: Defects or imperfections not listed above may occur within the 5% industry standard. As with all natural hardwood products, any unwanted characteristics should be culled or cut out.

I used this for a landing on my stairs and it laid down well. Took stain well and then accepted varnish easily. Easy to use but since its not surfaced finished you should expect some additional labor to put on the finish.

Great Product at a Great Price
This floor looks and feels like hard wood floors - for less than half the price! Sanded, stained, poly'd just like hard wood. Good quality. We did 2 rooms and we wish we did more.

The wood itself was good. The problem I have is there is no random lengths. I had to cut a lot to stagger the joints. Not happy about that, more than 10% waste.

Looks great!! We glued it down to the cement slab. The glue can be messy as I found it impossible not to get it on my fingers and on the wood. We did 3 bedrooms and the hallways. I found it to be easier to pull the baseboards than to work around them. Very happy with the new look.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoy your finished project! While our unfinished boards are made to very similar tolerances as the finished flooring, there could possibly be minor finishing work required to ensure it matches perfectly every time. -Alexis, Customer Care
