What is the minimum depth wall that this will go into?

What is the minimum depth wall that this will go into?
Asked by: BB
I installed it into a normal 2x4 stud interior wall with ½" drywall. I doubt it could be much less but I didn't check it for depth. The width is less than the standard 14" between the studs. Don't cut all the way to both studs or the opening will be too wide. A shim on one side makes it fit without a lot of excess space for the screws to bridge.

Customer Reviews

Supreme Series Ironing Center is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 100.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, bad screws. Installed this for my fiance yesterday in her quilting room, and very satisfied overall. I am not the handiest guy, but have basic knowledge and basic skills. The directions were clear enough and the finished installation looks good and feels sturdy. She is overjoyed to start using it today. Took one star off for the cheap brass screws included to attached the hinges. Don't even try, just throw them out and use any other screws of the same size. Even drilling pilot holes and forgoing a powered screwdriver and using only hand-power, the heads twist off these screws immediately. I broke 3 before I realized the problem wasn't me. If you work around that, everything else is satisfactory with this product, although I have to seal a slight gap at the top (though it's not visible or unsightly in the room, just for energy efficiency ) which I expect to be easy and not a pressing matter in my case.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Picture shows an iron on a shelf which is not... Picture shows an iron on a shelf which is not the truth. The inside slide that the ironing board actually slides up and down in is flimsy at best. The swivel board that the ironing board is attached to is some kind of pressed wood and flimsy. I expect this to last a short time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, but cheap hardware I bought the unfinished oak model since I am going to paint it to match my other laundry room cabinets. It is very well-made. The door and face frame are solid oak. It fits right against the wall with no gaps (as others have suggested). The only drawback is that the hardware is cheap. The screws and hinges are made of soft metal. Don't even attempt to use the screws - they WILL break off or the heads will strip no matter now careful you are or how well you've drilled the pilot holes. Just get some better ones and save yourself the trouble. I did that, but used the hinges and unfortunately, broke one of them the first time I closed the door. The screws weren't in tight on the door side and when I pushed the door in, the metal part in the hinge snapped. I've emailed the company to get a new one, but still may get some better ones at the hardware store. I am a small 53-year-old woman and installed this myself, except for lifting the unit into the opening. My husband helped with that as it is heavy. I have a Rowenta Precision iron and it fits nicely on the shelf. This is a well made product, just has cheap hardware. You will do yourself a favor by buying better hardware yourself.
