The cargo bag is a handy way to hold and transport belongings from a cargo hitch keeping them contained and secure. It is for the most part waterproof as long as you do not allow water to travel into the zipper which is not waterproof. The cons are it needs some structure
to open to bag up, I use cardboard to stiffen the sides so it can be loaded easier. If you are using the bag in cold weather it will stiffen making it harder to fully open and close, I did manage down to 38 degrees F.. I would also fill the bag nearly full this helps keep it's shape so the zipper is covered. I used the bag on a 2300 mile trip across country in October and it was worth the money for extra storage for the trip.

The bag was easy to use and tie down to my hitch carrier. We did not get rained on when we used it so I cannot speak to it being weather proof. It appears it would keep water out pretty well though.

Purchased this for a ski trip where we needed extra...
Purchased this for a ski trip where we needed extra room. Had light rain and it did not leak but don't know if it would stay dry in a downpour. I'd give it five stars but it only unzips on TWO sides which makes loading a bit awkward! The product would be vastly improved if it unzipped on three sides so you could flop it open to load. The strap retention system worked well with the Rola cargo carrier we purchased. It was certainly large enough for our purposes.

Drove about 600 miles for Christmas. Bought this with a cargo carrier to haul gifts. It stated rainproof and reason went with this choice On the way home, we ran into showers. When we got home, all of the xmas presents were soaked. Good on a dry day only!! Returned after it dried out.

This cargo bag is built real sturdy. The zipper seems strong because in cold weather the material gets stiff and hard to zip. The zipper only opens 3/4 of the bag which makes it a bit tough to put stuff in while holding it open. I have only used it on one trip but built good.
