Looks super cool, but, it is only rated for indoor use? That is a huge let down. Can it be UV/Waterproofed to stay outdoors?

Had mine outside for 3 weeks, no problem. I'm sure it would probably get bleached by the sun if left outside for a long period.

Is there a secret to the back legs on these guys?

All the other parts snapped really right on but the back legs won’t - it’s fine once it is balanced but I feel like I’m missing some secret since the rest of it went together so easily
Asked by: Winter
Back legs come off at the knees and not the hip. I broke mine off & will have to glue back on .

There is a mysterious 'take down tool' included with the skeleton. This tool, which is not explained in the instructions, is used to insert through a small hole in the side of the neck to depress a locking spring. Insert the tool until you feel it depress the spring, and while depressing it, pull the head off. I also found I needed to depress this spring with the tool to get the head on. Also, make sure you remove the batteries before storing it during the off season.

how do you remove the head for storage?

Asked by: Dave
Included with the skeleton, but not explained in the instructions, is a 'take down tool'. This is inserted in a hole on the side of the neck, on the ribcage (not the head). You push the tool into the hole, and wiggle the head loose until it comes off. In my experience though, a small straight-blade screwdriver works better. Insert the screwdriver into the hole with the blade parallel to the plane of the neck. Push until you feel the spring underneath depress (easier to experience than describe), and thne while holding the spring depressed, wiggle the head off. In the box, the head stores inside the ribcage. Make sure you take the batteries out before storing the skeleton.

A great addition if your Halloween decor leans toward the prehistoric ... this is a LARGE, surprisingly detailed, animated (button or sound-activated) and reasonably well-made saber-tooth tiger skeleton almost 7 ft. long. Be aware that while the plastic bones will no doubt tolerate some rain, the animated jaws and LED eyes probably won't -- and again, this is pretty large for an indoor piece and awkward to move when it's fully assembled. If you have the room, though, this is almost a guaranteed hit with the kids. It scared the bejeebers out of my 4 and 7-year-old the first time it "roared," but now they love it and begged to keep it out to play with long before it was time to decorate for Halloween. Comes mostly disassembled in a big box, and the assembly instructions leave something to be desired, but by looking at the picture, I was able to figure it out pretty quickly, and it snaps together easily and can be broken down for storage in a matter of minutes. Batteries included. Recommended.

At over 6 ft. long, it really stands out with the Halloween decorations. The tiger came disassembled, basically a box of bones. Mine arrived with a small crack where the head attaches to the body, but that did not impact its functionality. The part that was damaged is the animated mouth. Not sure if this happened in shipping or manufacturing, but the motor that moves the mouth sounds like it's rattling around in its head and the mouth does not move. I may have to do some surgery to fix it. Still, without the moving mouth it looks really good and stands solidly. It will be a great addition to our decorations!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This prop was very easy to assemble and looks good.... This prop was very easy to assemble and looks good. It's very big. We are pleased with it. We have the 9-foot tall T-rex skeleton and they will go well together because the tiger doesn't disappear next to the T-rex. The box it comes in is pretty big. You'll need to have space for storage.

In the last few years, I have seen some very creative skeleton animals at Hope Depot for Halloween. After seeing an almost lifesize horse skeleton last year, I was really hoping they would someday do a big cat. Well, much to my surprise, I found my big cat this year at Home Depot. There were none on display, and just one hidden in a box, which I luckily saw and immediately bought. The skeleton is a lot bigger than the box suggests, especially with the long, partially articulated tail. As a representative large feline skeleton, it does have a couple inaccuracies, like three toes on the rear feet, and 'ear bones'. However, most people won't notice these things. The sabers are close to the size of real fossil sabertooth cats. When activated by sound, the mouth opens and closes, the 'eyes' flash, and a variety of cat snarls are emitted. The sound sensitivity is not super-sensitive (to avoid false trips), and is not adjustable. The skeleton was fairly easy to assemble, but the parts could have labeled a little better. The neck joint also has a spring loaded lock that is not explained in the instructions, even though a tool was included to actuate the lock. I placed this skeleton in the gift shop of our zoo, and we named him 'Puff' ;) In any case, a really nice find, and I hope Puff returns for many more Halloweens!
