Why does my fog machine leak

Asked by Harrison October 28, 2019

Answer

The ice melts. That is why there is a bag to attach to the drain hose, the bag fills with the water from the melted ice then you empty it as needed.

In the instruction manual linked above it said it's rated for indoor or covered outdoor use only. So you can use it outside but don't let it get wet/rained on because it is not built to withstand the elements.

Is there a hose extender available for this? I see one but it has a circular opening and this one has a rectangle.

Ground foggers are a type of fog machine that creates fog that stays low and creeps along the ground, whereas the 400 W and 1000 W fog machines make more puffy fog that rises into the air. The hose extenders are really only for the 400 W and 100 W machines which is why they are not compatible with the ground fogger.

It is called a fog machine timer. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Accents-Holiday-5-in-Holiday-Fog-Machine-Timer-5724006/304609194?MERCH=REC-_-Pip_Alternatives_Non_HDhome-_-308503483-_-304609194-_-N You need to use ice to make the fog. No ice...no fog.

Can I use plastic reusable ice cubes? Is the ice needed for condensation or cooling the machine?

Asked by Qm October 2, 2019

The ice is used to cool the fog, which keeps it from rising very high into the air. It's neither for condensation or cooling the machine. Aerated fog juice will enter the cooling chamber at around 130 degrees. So you'll want to keep an eye to make sure the plastic isn't melting and they might not stay cool for very long.

Will the regular fog liquid work in this machine?

This is a fun unit to use. It puts out a really nice curling layer of fog. It does not come with the fog juice or the timer. You will want both. Fog juice is easy to make yourself. Lots of videos on that. The unit has a nice site gauge so you can see how much juice you have in the unit. There is a button on the top to turn the make the unit create fog. You will then always use the remote. The fog hangs pretty good unless there is some wind. Wind will really move the fog. I used the unit for about an hour and used about 1/3 a cup of juice.

Very efficient fogger, really fills the floor with fog and carries colored light very well in the dark. I got this for my front yard Halloween graveyard setup and plan to use it for a bit of DIY laser tag for my kid's birthday. I find it works really well with a colored light, so I'm excited to place a green or red light among the fog in the graveyard. It is very efficient. It heats up quickly and you just need a pile of ice and some fog fluid to get it to work (nothing fancy like dry ice). The fog sinks to the floor and fills the area in a creepy mist. It comes with a remote control, which is kind of necessary for it to be practical. The only actual control on the box itself is a one-time switch, but the remote control allows it to pump fog automatically. I wish the box itself had more controls as remote controls tend to disappear rather easily in my house! Overall, very good addition for the Halloween spread. I recommend it!

The fog machine does work, but from my perspective requires a lot of interaction to keep the smoke going. There was no way to automate the continual fog creation. The unit needs about 3 minutes to warm up then you can create the fog in 30 second rotations. Repeat that process over and over to fill your room or set your Halloween stage. The machine does heat up quickly, meaning you should keep it away from items that could melt or catch fire. You need fog juice and then ice to really make thick fog. I didn't have any issues with fog film left over after it cleared. I used Froggy's Fog liquid, if you are looking for a suggestion.

We were looking for decorations for our fall festival that could also be used for other events. For this one we have several “sets” created including a prison scene. This fogging machine adds a very dramatic effect. I tested it on our front porch for Halloween in a few weeks. It was simple to set up with easy instructions, just add fog fluid, ice and it makes fog. The remote is a nice feature.

While you read this review, take into account that I've never owned or operated a fogger before this one so I'm not sure how it compares to others and if they are all the same. First, it doesn't come with any "fog juice" a gallon of the stuff will run you about 20 dollars. This thing really works well. It fogged up my entire house in seconds. The fog doesn't really stay on the ground for very long. It seems like the more ice you use, the longer it stays there. It also has a tube that drains the water from the ice compartment when it melts so if you use it indoors, be careful of that. It comes with a remote(batteries included) with makes a lot of sense since you don't want to run it for more than a few seconds at a time. It also "sweats" because of the ice but I'm guessing that's to be expected.

Not a standard fog outlet so this doesn't even work with the other decorations from the very same company! I spent a lot of money on decorations and fog hoses to use with this and absolutely none of them are compatible. All are being returned. Junk.
