A: It could be painted. The finish it arrives with has a bit of a sheen, makes for easier cleaning. I would think you should lightly sandpaper it to help the paint adhere, I am not sure what type of wood it is so I would say go very lightly with sandpaper just to scratch up the paint finish and not get into the wood. The gold accents do not look like they are re-moveable though, not without damage at least. May have to paint around them.
A: Hmm, it is very solid and slick, almost like enameled. So, I think if you major sanded it it could be but I don't think you could hand sand it. You would need at least an attachement on a dremel or a regular hard core sander , then yes.
A: Yes. I successfully overcoated mine to change the color. First dust it with a tack cloth. Then lightly clean with distilled water or solvent - based on the type of paint you choose to use. In any event, paint a small test area on the back, first. Let it cure - and see whether the paint spreads and adheres to your satisfaction, before completing the project.

A: I just measured mine. Its exactly 30" high, 30" wide and 18" deep. Just as the description states. Its a deceiving photo that makes it look less than square.
