Does this ruin the floor underneath when it’s removed

it shouldn't. It's a floating floor so you don't use adhesive. It literally sits on top of the floor. It stays in place by interlocking to each other

I have a 11x 14 room calculator said 7 cases would 9 be better for waste? Doesn’t seem enough still?

We installed ours by ourselves, and we had almost no waste. The only waste is if you make an "oops" while cutting a piece to fit in a specific spot. With that said, this was BY FAR one of the most difficult installations I've ever done. Trying to snap together a long piece of flexible vinyl was insanely difficult. My wife and I are experienced DIY'ers, and we've installed several laminate floors before. This particular vinyl flooring install made me want to shove a rusty nail in my eye.

Answer

Thanks for your question. Rubber can discolor/damage the planks so you cannot use that. We haven't seen issues with other backings. Polymer, plastic, vinyl, PVC, etc. are all fine.

which kind of vacuum is safe to use on this flooring, assume one has to be careful?

Thanks for your question. Any type of vacuum is ok but you should not use the beater bar. Suction is fine but the beater bar can catch debris and damage the planks.

I wish I had read all the 1 star reviews before ordering. I'm assuming most of the 5 star reviews were immediately after installation. Our floor has been installed for about a month and is already bubbling in places, coming apart, and easily denting. It was a pain to install...many pieces kept easily breaking while trying to gently tap in with a block. We would even be tapping in a new row and 3 rows back an already locked in piece would break. Since install, the floor has been pulling apart from itself and bubbling up in new places. It is awful. So disappointing for the money we spent and amount of time we spent installing it. Steer very clear of this flooring!

Crystal Oak is perfect for a coastal beach look

I looked at dozen of LVP flooring before I settled on Home Depot‘s Home Decorators Collection in Crystal Oak. I wanted a beachy feel, but most flooring was too grey. I wanted grey but with some warmth to it. I have some cream colored furniture and Crystal Oak is perfect. I love my flooring with it’s clean light color and the texture with the “wood grain” look and feel. The color on the website is a true representation. After painstakingly choosing the flooring, I decided to try to install it myself. I don’t want to be stereo typical, but I’m a 60+ female who never installed flooring or even watched somebody install flooring. So I watched dozens of YouTube videos and read everything I could about installing planking. I attempted to do a small bedroom first to see if I could be successful. There’s definitely a learning curve to installing this flooring. My suggestion is the following: Read the directions and then reread them. Buy the Roberts pro floor installation kit that is available at Home Depot. The spacers, mallet, and the pull bar are great. The tapping block is not so great. Instead buy a 12 inch Pro length heavy duty tapping block made by Bullet Tools. It’s also available from Home Depot, but I got mine elsewhere. It is definitely worth it. Make sure that the seams not only look tight, but actually feel tight. Run your fingers along the planks and if you feel the difference between the 2, they need to be tapped in again. Get yourself a small hand brush and brush the floor and the back of the plank before you install it. Even though you vacuumed that floor and even washed it, somehow dust appears from nowhere. If you need to take apart the planks on the short end, do not bend them back at at an angle, as you will ruin them. Tease them apart and you’ll be able to reuse them. Lastly, take your time. I was successful in installing the flooring in a small bedroom, so decided to go ahead with 600+ square feet in the rest of the house. I bought the corresponding thresholds and after watching videos was able to successfully install those as well. So if I can do it, you can do it. I love the look at my floor and I’m thrilled with the fact that I was able to install it myself and save quite a bit of money by doing so. I bought myself a brushless, cordless vacuum and use it frequently to keep my floor clean. I will occasionally wash it with a mop (wrung out as dry as possible) with distilled water. It cleans up nicely.
