AnswersOccasionally it can do this. Nothing to worry about. Just start it again. It's controlled with a Variable Frequency Drive. It does the cha cha cha startup because it needs to verify that it can actually see the motor turning. Rarely it will miss this detection and stop. When you restart the fan it will do this again and if it sees the signal it is looking for it will then change direction if necessary and begin to accelerate to the requested speed. The gist of this setup is you have a lot of speed options, reversibility via a remote and excellent power efficiency. Great fan!

AnswersLight can be dimmed with remote; it dims slowly. The light will not be enough by itself for 20 x 20 room. It covers more like 12 x 12, and not super bright at that, but I did not want that anyway

AnswersYes, this fan can be controlled by a light switch from your wall. Two things to consider: 1) the switch cannot be a dimmer switch with adjustable voltage; the fan already has internal circuitry that enables it to be adjustable and 2) the last known settings the fan had, both in fan speed and lighting, will be 'saved' so when the switch is turned on the same settings will be engaged as was from the last time it was on. Note: In regards to connecting this Fan to a switch with a dimmer, it simply will not work...Period. Suggestion: Purchase a single pole 15A Decorator switch for less than $2 bucks and change it out from the get-go to avoid issues after installation. You will thank me later. Just do it...the fan is well worth a two dollar switch conversion.

My husband installed two of these fans with no problems. I love the design and how quiet it runs. The fact it has 9 speeds is wonderful too. I love that it has a remote and you can
adjust everything on it. You can also adjust the light brightness from dim to sort of bright. What a great addition to our rooms. Oh, you can reverse the direction of the blades
depending on the time of year.

The fan meets most expectations but two bits of information about the fan seem incorrect.
Under "Mounting Options" it says it can either be down rod or sloped. Our ceiling is slightly slopped yet the slope appears to be causing a clicking noise as the fan spins. It doesn't look like the picture, the rod is not in the center of the circle, but touching the edge.
Also, it recommends that the fan be 14.17 inches from the ceiling, but that does not allow enough room to suck down air. We mounted our fan at that distance but we feel very little air flow. When we reverse the fan to the winter setting, then it pulls air up and pushes it out, and we can feel the air coming down near the walls. We are going to have to buy a longer down rod, one made specifically for the sloped ceiling, which is not a problem, I just wish the ad was more accurate.
Also, the batteries that came with the fan were completely corrupted with battery acid! They are just batteries but what does this say about quality control?

This is a great fan. We've had it for about two weeks, and it does exactly what it's meant to. We just wanted to get a decent air flow to cool us at night. Our previous fan was too small for the room, so we'd have to turn on the AC to keep both of us cool at night. The speed and range of this fan are just as advertised. It's not that difficult to install; however, installing the blades is not as intuitive as with traditional models. It's a great looking fan, though; so it's worth it. I also like that the light is dimmable. I'm not crazy about the remote, as our remotes tend to disappear. To remedy this, I used a picture hanging strip to secure it right by the wall switch. Also, be sure to pair the remote! We thought the fan was damaged (lol) because it wouldn't respond to the remote. We just had to pair it!

Love this fan. It's actually a 120VAC motor that's being controlled by a Variable Frequency Drive or VFD. The VFD converts 120VAC to DC and varies the frequency from 60hz for the fast 300 RPM setting, down to 20hz for the 100 RPM low setting. The VFD allows the fan to start gently which should increase the mechanical longevity. It also allows for 9 speed options in total as well as the ability to reverse the fan direction at anytime, even when running full speed, using just the remote.
The longer blades move more air which allows the fan to be run at a higher efficiency by choosing a lower speed setting. These blades move a good bit of air and are very quiet in the mid to low range.

This is a very nice looking fan. A friend installed it for me, and it took him about 90 minutes to assemble and complete. He said everything was pretty straightforward.
I was concerned it would be too big for my bedroom as it's 60" wide, but I couldn't find anything smaller that was more modern looking and also in my budget. My room is about 18ft x 13ft with low 8ft ceilings, so I thought it might dominate the space. It doesn't.
The blades are long, but the motor housing is not very wide. This allows the fan to look streamlined and sleek. It doesn't hang too low either. I would definitely consider installing a longer downrod if my ceilings were any higher, as the one in the box is only 4.5". Also, keep in mind the espresso blades are a very, very dark brown to almost black color if you're trying to match decor.
Like other reviewers, I find the light rather dim and a bit yellow for my taste. I prefer brighter cooler lights, so this is my only complaint. It doesn't light the entire room, so count on installing or using other light sources. The DC motor is very quiet, and there is minimal wobble even at high speed. It also moves a great amount of air. I keep it at a low to medium speed, and very rarely use it on high.
The remote is full featured, and you can use it to reverse the fan direction without having to get on a ladder. It also has a 2, 4 and 8 hour timer as well as a cool breeze setting and dimmer function.
The yearly running cost is estimated at only $6 if you use it for 6 hours per day!!
I bought it in July, having just missed the ceiling fan sale in June, but even though I paid full price it's more than worth it for a quality product that looks higher end.
