Questions & Answers

I have noticed that with the DC motor fans, as the CFM increases, the RPM (motor speed) decreases. Can anyone explain why or how this effects the amount of air the fan will produce? For example, this fan has 9330 CFM, but only 105 RPM. Which number is more important to focus on in regards to getting a fan that produces a lot of airflow? Thank you

HI AJ, Hate to tell you CFM & RPM, you did not use the blades in you cfm/rpm stats. Both the blade stats and the RPM support the CFM performance. You sound like the people who rate fans like they did in the 1950's buy blade pitch. When both provide support in the fan performance. Your numbers only show faster speed does not mean increase in CFM. I find that most fans on mid speed will most the most air per RPM. If you were into engineering you know this

Same remote. Need to seperate so i don't turn both up

You will need to reset both fans. Make sure that the AC power is off on the fan that is not being reset for it will also pick up the code if just powered off by the remote. Once the first fan is reset, turn off the AC power to the fan and work on the next fan. You may see the end of the installation video on the website next to the product photo. Forward the video to the end for information on how to reset your fans. You may also call customer service.

Stacy

would this work with a lutron Maestro Fan Control and Light Dimmer smart switch?

Absolutely not. All dimming and fan control is internal to the fan and its remote. The fan expects 1 line in of 120V AC. A wall dimmer will cause the fan not to work. Download the Installation Manual and read before buying. It is a great fan. I have 3.

Ray

It says max slope of 19 Degrees... so if the ceiling is a 27 degree slope, you can't mount this fan?

For a 27 degree slope you can use a slope kit adapter to hang the fan. The adapter will need to support a downrod with a 1 in. exterior or 3/4 in. diameter.

They arrived in perfect condition. I installed two of them in our outside covered patio, no problems. They have been up for about 2 weeks now, and so far, so good. Easy to install. They work great. The dimmable lights are perfect. They move a good amount of air too. I love the black finish against our white ceiling. Must use the remote to operate. Don't be alarmed when you hit the power switch, and they don't come on...You have to set up your remote to make them work. I'm hoping they don't sag over time in our extreme heat. That's why I purchased the extended warantee plan from Home Depot. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This outdoor fan is powerful and provides so much “wind” on our hot, humid lanai (patio in FL). The blades are wood-like colored but made of a heavy ABS plastic so be aware that although it’s the same brand as the Kensgrove indoor fans (we have the 64” and 54” models) the blades do not look the same. When the fan is moving, the blades look dark and rustic, but they are acually a dark taupe or mushroom color with wood grain painted image on facing side; its perfect for outdoor- very well made and will withstand our very humid climate. Only issues- we had to add a large rubber washer as a spacer to keep the soffit from pushing in when we attached the motor base, and we could have/ should have added a bit longer rod for more air flow. We put this up in about and hour- like the other, indoor models. REMEMBER- If you get different fans and want to pair them each separately to matching remote, switch the very small “0” to “1” inside battery compartment and press “pairing” button until remote shows solid green. YOU’ll LOVE IT- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Very nice fan
There were some issues with the installation. Originally I had it hooked up to a dimmer switch which didn’t work. Also, make sure you pair the remote. Once it was properly installed, is really nice and works well. I do wish it went a little faster, but it’s nice.

I purchased this fan on Jul 14 2018. It stopped working today (Jun 19 2020). This fan was placed outdoors, but under a solid roof. The only elements it was exposed to were temperature, wind, and the occasional sideways-rain. While it worked, it did a great job moving air. The dimmable light kit was useful. The remote control offered all the key controls in one place (including rotation reversal for hot/cold seasons). I would expect a fan rated for outdoor use to last more than 2 years, especially when not exposed to sunlight and direct rain. I bought this thinking it was a great deal ($300), especially when other outdoor fans of the same size were easily twice the price with less well-featured remote controls. I regret buying this fan.

Nice fan, Installed myself about 4hours including removing old Fan. Appears to be well made. Connected to SmartThings using bond hub.The bond hub was able to also control a 10 year old Hunter Fan in a different room. Also control with Alexa.Very quiet on speeds 1 to 3. On the higher speeds you begin to hear the air blowing , motor still quiet.

This is great fan. Puts out lots of air, quiet, and is well balanced right out of the box. You wont be able to find a competing fan of similar specs and quality anywhere near the price of this one. If you have 2 wall switches for independent control of light and fan: YES the light and the fan control can be hard-wired from those wall switches (with 1 minor caveat on the fan speed - read more below). The LED light module runs on 120V AC and is dimmable with an LED rated wall switch dimmer. You will need to bypass the "brain" and run new leads down the stem to connect to the light module. This is fairly easy: remove the housing cover and trace the LED light hot and common wire leads up to the brain. You will want to cut the wires after the rectangular plastic connector but before the power limiter (labeled "Rhine PL-075"). On my fan, these leads were white and blue. Cap the unused wires coming from the rectangular plastic connector and then connect new leads which you will need to run down through the center stem (you will need to carefully dig out the sealant goop in the stem). I also applied some heat shrink to the new wire bundle to keep them from chaffing. You now have wall switch control of the lighting module and it bypasses the remote. Mine is controlled on a 3-way dimmer circuit using GE Enbrighten Z-Wave dimmers interfaced to Smarthings and Alexa for voice control. Now on the fan control: It is a DC Fan Motor, so you will unfortunately not be able to bypass the "brain" to run the fan - however all is not lost! The fan will remember its previous speed setting. So wire the existing hot and neutral that came with the fan to your fan switch, turn the fan on and set the speed. When you turn the switch off, the fan goes off. When you turn the switch on, the fan turns on and returns to the previous speed used. The caveat here is that if you want to adjust the speed or reverse the fan direction you will need to use the remote. I found this not to be an issue as we prefer to keep the fan speed on high and rarely reverse the direction. I have the fan connected to a GE Enbrighten Z-Wave Smart Switch interfaced to Smarthings and Alexa for voice control. A note about drop rods: It comes with a 4.5" long unit, and I tested it with a 12ft ceiling and it actually works pretty good. However it is recommended that if you have tall ceilings to lower the fan for increased static pressure. I have 12ft ceilings and in theory should use a 24in drop rod, but don't like the looks of that so I used a 12in drop rod and it works just fine. You wont be able to easily find a longer polished nickel drop rod, however the brushed nickel one from Hunter is very close and you wont be able to tell once its up on the ceiling. Minor detail: You will find that the ground screw from the fan drop rod is not the same size/thread as most longer drop rods that are available - you will either need to find a screw that fits, or drill/tap it.
