Started rusted within the first year / Warranty department says they won't cover it rust on an outdoor fan
I bought three of these fans to service my patio area. They were installed by a professional electrician and are placed high up in the canopy where they never get wet. After just a year I noticed the edges of all the blades on all three fans rusting. I climbed up to look to discover rust on all the motor housings as well. The fans were ... *Rarely used, probably had less than 80 hours on them. *Never received a drop of rain *Never saw direct sunlight I called to claim warranty since it was under two years and was told, "Oh 'they' won't allow you to claim a warranty for rust."

    Good looking but no function
Beautiful looking fans, we bought 3 to replace our droopy patio fans. Extremely disappointed in their function. Supposedly has 4 speeds, but that is not the case for us. Either its way too fast or speeds 2-4 are a crawl with zero air flow. Will have to take down and buy new fans to replace. A hassle and disappointing.

This fan was very easy to install. I had to replace a "smart" model that quit working almost as soon as I installed it and this fan has a very simple process. The instructions are explicit, just follow them to the letter and in order and you'll be done in no time. From an electrical viewpoint, you need to have power coming into a switch for both the light and the fan. This model comes with a wall slider (but not the cover). Be sure you know which black wire comes from the panel and which one goes out to the unit (in this case the fan). If you are not sure, definitely get the opinion or help of an electrician. The blades, by the way, are metal. This is not remote controlled and I am not sure if you could install a separate unit or not.

This is one of the better ceiling fans made, with outstanding features and quality. Its beautiful industrial design makes it quite contemporary, and suitable for any home, office or restaurant. Plus, it is outdoor rated, so it can be installed outside on a porch, patio, or sun room. The Merryn Pointe ceiling fan features three 52" white metal ceiling fan blades, with an optional LED light kit, that is surprisingly bright. In fact, at first glance, a 24 watt LED light does not sound like much, but it has multiple LED diodes built into the light kit, making it super bright, and should not be confused with a 24 watt incandescent light bulb. It's much brighter than that. In fact, I would guess that it is in the range of 800-1000 lumens. The 120 VAC single gang wall-mounted fan controller replaces the old style two-switch configuration used in many homes already, and features a 4 speed fan slider control and a dimmer slider control for the LED light kit. This fan controller requires only 4 wires, and is quite easy to hook up. The installation for us, doing the sloped ceiling installation with two ladders, took about 1 hour, as we had to be super careful not to drop anything from that height onto our hardwood floor, so that is likely the maximum time it would take to install this fan. Most installations would likely only take 30-45 minutes to complete. We were happy that we were able to reuse the existing down rod and mate up this fan to it, with no trouble and zero wobble. The installation instructions were very clear. It seems that Home Decorators Collection design group has put a lot of thought into the design of their fans to make the installation as easy as possible. Everything you need comes in the box, including a 6" down rod assembly, wall controller, light kit, frosted white globe, fan motor, blades and instructions. (Note: if you need a longer down rod for a sloped ceiling installation, you can get a 3/4" white 4 foot down rod at Home Depot as an accessory item.) Last, but not least, this powerful but very quiet fan produces an amazing 5,956 CFM on high speed, which is a large amount of air flow, much more than a regular 3-speed fan. Thus, it can serve a larger room, such as a great room or family room, or even an office or restaurant. Do keep it mind that the suggested mounting height, which is important for safety due to the steel fan blades that can reach high speeds, is 10 ft. AFF. This fan can be installed using three different mounting methods - close mount, down rod mount, or sloping ceiling mount (see pics below). Best of all, this outstanding ceiling fan has a lifetime warranty for the fan motor from the manufacturer, and a two year warranty on the parts. Plus, the manufacturer's customer support is based in North America. Home Decorators Collection is setting the standard on quality well-designed ceiling fans, built to last a lifetime.

A new fan for the bedroom with LED lighting and greater air flow than our $30 fan from 4 years ag...
A new fan for the bedroom with LED lighting and greater air flow than our $30 fan from 4 years ago. We requested this fan through the Home Depot Seeds reviewer program in exchange for our unbiased review of the product. Well, with this fan, you're absolutely going to trust that this is unbiased because I'm going to recommend that every stay far away from this model of fan. Not because of under performance, or over pricing or anything like that. This one literally scared my wife and made me unwilling to keep it installed. Lets start at the beginning though, shall we? So it's late 2013 and my wife and I are buying our first home. None of the rooms have ceiling fans and the AC unit had been stolen while the previous owners of the home were doing remodeling, so we agreed they'd have a new one installed the next year. Unfortunately, that year it was still pretty warm at the time, so the wife bought several very cheap ceiling fans with lights and I and my father-in-law installed them in all the rooms. Fast forward to today where all the ceiling fans have had their CFL bulbs replaced with Daylight LED bulbs and the fans are beginning to wobble slightly when not at full speed. So we figured we'd pass on other items we wanted and I'd install new fans in 2 of the bedrooms. So the fans arrive, excellent condition, I take a brief look inside at both of them and I'm satisfied at this point. Now in order to install these fans, I had to make a run to Home Depot for electrical wire since the contractors had only supplied a Load(Black) and Neutral(White) wire in the electrical box on the ceilings. For both fans (both same brand, just different models) they have dimmable LEDS and multiple fan speeds, so they both require 4 wires in the ceiling (Fan & Motor Loads, Neutral and Ground). Now running the 2 additional wires did admittedly take about an hour and a half due to some very screwy conduit runs from the previously mentioned contractors. After that though, things went downhill, and boy did they go downhill! After installing the hanging bracket to the box and then hanging the fan (which I had pre-assembled per the manual the day before), I started getting everything wired up following the manual step-by-step for each individual wire, triple checking I had everything connected properly. Finally the moment of truth came and I go down to the basement to turn the breaker back on. I go back up the 2 flights of stairs and what I find is the fan is already spinning with both the light and fan switches in the off position. Then as soon as I move the fan speed switch from off to speed 1, the switch with a bright flash pops the circuit breaker. Fast forward an hour later and multiple attempts to figure out what is going on with the fan running when the switch is set to off and I've determined that there must be a permanently closed circuit inside the switch causing the problem and this thing is just one big electrical/fire hazard waiting to burn my house to the ground. So I cut the power, remove everything, install the old fan again and notified the review program team that this product poses an unnecessary danger to consumers. I also advised them to pull this product immediately until they can ensure that this same issue isn't present in other units of this model. So can I recommend this fan with light? Absolutely not! At least not until there is a thorough investigation into this quality control issue. It should be noted though that as far as I am aware, this is the only model with the specific switch that comes with this fan. I was seeing different switches being included with all the other Home Decorator fans.

My Home Decorators Collections Merryn Pointe 52 in. integrated LED indoor/outdoor white ceiling fan with light kit and wall control suits my needs very well. It has a 24 watt LED that is also dimmable. The industrial design uses just 3-white metal blades. This fan has 4 speeds that I like a lot. I am very happy that it comes with a wall control that selects the fan speed and brightness of the LED. Very well built.

      Brilliantly thought out, well designed...
These are easily the best fans we've ever had (indoor use). Metal everything so no sagging, and every installation detail seems to have been considered to make it all a relative breeze. Yes, for the fan and light to work using the INCLUDED dimmer+fan control you're going to need 14/3 wire from your switch to the fan 14/3 is 4 wire (2 x hot, neutral and ground) instead of the standard 3 (1 x hot, neutral and ground), so make sure before you buy. And wiring the switch wrong is really REALLY easy to do as you'll read in other angry reviews. Just make sure to split your wires into two groups - wires from your fusebox and wires to the fan - and you'll be just fine. These are solid, silent and well balanced fans and I can't say enough good things about them. We ordered three for downstairs and are purchasing another 5 for upstairs. We did have a problem with one of the three we purchased. It made a ticking sound when rotating, but I called their hotline and they shipped a new motor directly to us. If this product could be said to have any problems at all it would be the switches. When you turn on the dimmer for the light is starts low and gets brighter as you move the dimmer up. But with the fan, when you turn on it's slider it starts at the most powerful setting and gets slower as you move it up. That's a bit of oddly bad design but beyond that they're absolutely fantastic. Stop reading and go buy it. :-)

Honestly...I'm not sure if it was the electrician who installed the fans or the fans? I won't know until I purchase ANOTHER fan, and ANOTHER electrician to assess the situation. One fan is working, however, the high is low, and the low is high on the wall switch!!! Weird, but, not having that electrician come back. And....the fan in the living room is not working AT ALL!! Only the light works. I did initially alert the electrician that did the install. He kept me waiting a week for a response, then went into a tangent about 'crap' fans, and that he checked the wiring before he left and that it was probably the fault of the fan. He then went into that he only comes out on Saturdays for emergencies, apparently work that was PAID for for product that should be up and running was not an emergency in his eyes. Almost 1k and one fan does not work, and the other fan where high is on low, and low is on high!!! Now I have to hire someone else to come in and check the 'problems' and Pay....all over again!! This electrician seems to have more years into the business and we were both on the same page with a game plan. 1st guy...had no plan...I almost cried!! So...I give this rating due to the fact that I am not certain if it is the fan or the electrician that did the installation. I will come back and change my rating if the fault was in the hands of the 1st electrician!! The fan that stopped working, initially did not spin when I tried it, after the electrician left. I had hoped it was a fluke, let it sit for an hour, then it worked again. It continued to work for about 1 week, until one night, after a 3 hour run, it stopped working completely, and has never worked since!! Maybe the electrician was right?? I don't know. I only know that I am out approximately $900.00 and no fan!!!
One fan works...the other stopped working not long after installation.
I love the look of the fan, and it functions well, except for the 2nd fan that was installed. I purchased two of the same. I don't know if it's the fan, which the electrician who installed it seems to think, or if it's electrical, as I live in an older multi-unit, so anything's possible. I will say that the ugly and older fans that I had previous to these new fans....never let me down, never! No stalls ever, and they have been functioning for a decade or more. Has anyone else had this type of problem? The fan that is not working, did not operate immediately after the install, I let it sit for an hour, then it picked up, and continued to work, until one night, I ran it for 3 hours or so, and it stopped in mid-air, never to function again!! Any thoughts?? I called one Home Depot, and I was told that without original packaging, that I had to eat the cost of the fan if the fan was faulty. The 2nd Home Depot I called told me that of course, I could return the fan, and to just put it in a trash bag to tote to the store, for either a refund or exchange. I just want my fan to work. Any thoughts?
