Very minimal grooving, so I suppose it could collect some dust. However I have not found this to be an issue, we clean about once a week.

Does it have pad on back

No, there is not any padding attached the the flooring itself. They do suggest and recommend using underlayment. It provides vapor barrier and deadens sound transmission as well as cushioning the walking motion. Hope this of help.

Go to your local home depot, along with the product name that you want to install, and they will guide you. I believe they will subcontract your job to a third party.

Is the thin layer of oak real wood?

Asked by Dia January 17, 2019

Hello Dia, you may be thinking of Engineered wood. Laminate flooring is made with a treated paper décor and then has a protective overlay put on top of a HDF core. I hope this was helpful.

Great laminate
Great laminate. It looks and feel like real wood. The color is little bit lighter than the online picture. It is easy to clean and maintain. Hired a professional to install it in all my first floor. I strongly recommend it.

Exceeded My Expectations
My son installs flooring professionally, and he did 85% of the actual work. I did some cutting with a circular saw. The room measured approximately 20' x 12'. We moved out the furniture; cut up and removed the old carpet, padding and tack strip; and cleaned the floor. We also removed a foot or so of old vinyl flooring. He laid the underlayment and installed the flooring planks. The project took us about 9 hours. The next day I installed some quarter round moulding and a transition strip next to another floor which took about four hours. This would have been faster if I had had a pneumatic nailer and a chop saw, but all I had were hand tools. The floor looks great. I'm especially pleased with the textured finish and the color (and the 30 year warranty). It would look good in a bedroom, living room, dining room, hallway - almost anywhere.

Purchased the gunstock oak, which looked a little different from the photos online, but we really liked the finished product. There seemed to be about 11 different patterns, and it was helpful to unbox a bunch and put them into piles before installing. It was easy enough to install, although I would definitely recommend getting a laminate install kit!

Very happy with this flooring. Installation was easy and the results are just what I was hoping for. Out of 9 boxes, only 1 plank had one small chip on the end but I used it as a cutoff. Would recommend this product.

I installed this flooring nearly 2-years ago in an attic area above the garage I finished off to be a craft room. In total, the floor area was about 300 sq. ft. The flooring has held up well and looks as good as the day I installed it. It was easy to install, although one has to be careful using the pull-bar as the flooring can chip on the ends. I have been very pleased with this flooring.

Increased the Home Value
Purchased the Laminate with confidence. Adding the pad was a first for me but it was easier than I thought. Following the instructions, especially using spacers, was extremely helpful. Not being in a hurry is another key. The tongue and groove fit together very nicely but you have to insure that each piece is secure and there are no gaps.

Gunstock oak
The color in person is much better than the picture shows in HD website, it is more of red and orange color side. I hired professional person to install the floor, and he told me the quality is good, even though the material is a little bit thin. I tried to scratch it with my key as i have cat at home, the strength is okay, but maybe not good for people have dog. Overall, consider the low price, i think it is a good option.

Very attractive!
This flooring is very attractive. It has a little bit of a rustic look and looks good in a more casual room. The single planks give it a more realistic, wood floor look. There is enought variation in pattern to give it a more authentic look as well. it has a warm tone to it which I like as opposed to a more yellow/golden tone. I had to take extra care with the ends when installing each plank as the ends can "pucker". I used a scrap piece of flooring to minimize this, both on the end and side of each plank, using the pull bar only when necessary. It works best if you place the plank you're installing a little at an angle and tap it in from one end to the other. The plank will flatten as the tongue and groove connect. It seems to wear well as my 70# dog has not scratched it. I also accidently dropped a hammer on it with no dents or marks. It installs easily, it just took a little time. I installed this flooring in my dining/family room, den and master bedroom by myself. I'm a 50 year old female and have installed flooring in the two other bedrooms in our home. I would recommend this product as the finished product looks great and the price was very affordable.
