Can HL139P be put down without gluing or nailing?

Can HL139P be put down without nailing or gluing?
Asked by: LB1957
Although the pieces need not be glued or nailed down, however they will need to be glued together. I installed the pieces as a floating floor over radiant heat padding and it worked fine. Glueing the pieces together was easier than I thought it would be, using a thin line of glue in each slot. Flip board over and run the glue line so it runs down into slot when it is turned back over. Use glue sparingly so it does no come up seam and is not noticeable after installation. Any excess glue can be wiped off right away.

My previous question was not adequately answered. Why is butting up to a door threshold acceptable for nailed down, but must leave ½ gap around wall for the perimeter of the room. If this is a natural product that expands and contracts, what makes the door threshold different than the wall? Previous Question: When installing as nailed down, why is a 1/2 perimeter expansion gap still required? If it is for expansion, why are "T" transition strips not required? Previous Response: This is a natural product that will expand and contract based on the season, so the expansion gap is still required around the perimeter of the floor and between floor and all vertical obstructions. The T-Molding is only required if you are floating the installation for floor spanning greater than 35 feet in length or width; doorways or passageways 5 ft. wide or less which will reduce the stress on the tongue & groove from the additional movement.

Asked by: Scott
You need the expansion gap for seasonal expansion/contraction between the floor and any vertical obstructions. T-Molding is needed only if you are doing a floating installation for a floor spanning more than 35 feet (long or wide) or doorways or passageways 5 ft. wide or less. This will decrease the stress on the tongue & groove from the additional movement.

Does this have to acclimate prior to installing?
Asked by: Lola
Yes ..best to get cases into area that your are installing. And open up all cases. I know if you open more than 4 cases you can not return the full order. Opening all cases is best and you are saying at that point, I am not returning any of the cases. Best to open to acclimate.
