Yes we stained it a dark walnut and it matched the floor perfectly.

My tile never had a threshold put in and now two tiles on what I believe is a floating floor aren’t flush.

Transitions are used whenever you have two different flooring surfaces adjacent to one another (e.g. at doorways). This one is called a carpet transition because it is designed to have carpet tucked against the vertical face of the cross section. The purpose of a transition is 1) to hide cut edges that aren’t in a straight line when viewed from above 2) to transition from one height flooring surface to another and 3) to provide an aesthetically pleasing boundary between two different flooring surfaces. By design the short horizontal leg of the cross section is meant to rest on the sub-floor in a gap between a hard surface flooring (long horizontal leg of cross section) and carpet. I doubt you would want to use this cross section between two different tile flooring surfaces. My guess would be a transition with a T cross section would be more suitable. However this is an opinion without having seen the installation.

can i use this to transition laminate and tile floor?

You could, but it’s more for a step down from hardwood bamboo to any other style. Probably a T molding would work better in a same level transition from one style to another.

From my photo you can see I installed it between the rug and bamboo flooring. I was initially going to place the flat end over the rug, but it worked out better over the bamboo flooring instead. I used my pneumatic gun with 2” brads to nail it in place. Good luck!

Beautiful! Love the result!
I bought this for a DIY project. A dog we were dog-sitting for didn't like being closed behind the walk-through doggie gate in the laundry room at night and chewed up some of the carpet. (Luckily, he could only reach about 2 inches of it.) We pulled up the ugly silver metal transition strip and cleaned the tile underneath. Then I cut the carpet to make it more even all the way across. I needed at least a two inch transition strip to cover the both the edge of the carpet and the nail holes in the floor from the old transition strip. This one is 2-1/8th inch wide. My husband cut the board to fit the width of the door frame. Since the carpet would not quite reach all the way across the carpet tack strip, I nailed down any tacks that were exposed and used liquid nails to attach the carpet permanently to the edge of the tack strip (The carpet barely reached it but I also put liquid nails on the concrete for additional strength.) Then I attached this bamboo carpet reducer transition strip to the tile side of the door jamb with liquid nails. I placed two 25-pound dumbbell weights on it while it dried. When it dried, I tested it for strength and caulked the end edges and the long edge along the tile. It looks great. You cannot tell that it was ever damaged.

These moldings worked for us quite well. Had a rather long edge of Pergo that needed protection. Read where some folks were experiencing cracking when trying to install. Woodworker would know that Bamboo is the worst at cracking if you don't pre-drill. I ran mine through a home built jig on my drill press and drilled holes slightly larger than my screws. Secondly when screwing this down do yourself a favor and don't over torque it or else expect it to crack. Bamboo is very hard and wears great, all you have to do is use common sense when installing it.Very pleased with this purchase.
