Whole House Granular Activated Catalytic Carbon Filter with KDF85. Replacement filter for Home Master model HMF2SmgCC. Fits all Home Master Whole House Filter systems. Filter contains 3lbs of KDF85 media to remove chloramines, hydrogen sulfide, soluble heavy metals such as iron, manganese, lead, mercury, copper, and aluminum. Also contains catalytic carbon media to remove chloramines, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, iron, manganese, chemicals, taste, and odors. Typical lifecycle - 95,000 Gal. Recommended Operating conditions: pH: 6 to 10. Manganese: less than 1 PPM. Iron: 1 PPM, Iron Bacteria: None, Hydrogen Sulfide: less than 1 PPM, Feed water: psi 20 - 90 psi, Feed water Temperature: 40 to 100 (F), Max. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 2000 PPM. Your results may vary depending on regular maintenance, general condition of unit, and initial water supply. Filter not designed to treat microbial unsafe or non-potable water without adequate disinfection before and after unit.

A: Up to 20 gpm. This one and the purple cap have the same flow rate, but the purple cap has more powerful filtration. The Upflow filter features the most powerful filtration across a broader range of contaminants, but its flow rate is up to 10 gpm.

Filter was installed in January and the water still tastes great in June. I have a two filter system with a sediment filter and the carbon filter. I change the sediment filter every six months and the carbon filter once a year. Great combo.

Great while it lasted

Worked great for 2 weeks, then flow diminished to unusable rate. Could only use one fixture at a time. High cost for poor results, perhaps the wrong application for my setup.

This is the third set of filters I’ve put into...

This is the third set of filters I’ve put into the system. Each has lasted at least 18 months (one set I left in over two years) with zero impact on flow. Maybe they’ll last longer if I’m patient. Since there develops periodically a ring in the toilet due to no chlorine residual, I’m confident oxidants are being removed. That’s why I put in the carbon filter in addition to the particulate filter. The water tastes great. Another bonus: I haven’t replaced my refrigerator filter in several years, as it has nothing to do! I put a filter bypass in my system in case I want to “dose” the system with chlorine.
