The Home Master Whole House Three Stage Filter is great for well water with iron, manganese, and sulfur problems up to 3 PPM combined. Have your well water analyzed before buying (for city water, consider model #HMF2SmgCC). The Home Master Filter Pressure Performance Series uses oversized filters, housings and fittings to ensure your water pressure never falls short. Larger filters require less frequent service, which saves you time, money and inconvenience. The system treats sediment, turbidity, iron, manganese, sulfur smell, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals to deliver clean, clear water to every faucet and bath in your home without significantly drawing down water pressure. The first stage is a 4-layer depth polypropylene sediment filter: 25-micron surface, 10-micron layer, 5-micron layer and 1-micron inner core, designed for purity with bacterial and chemical resistance. It typically lasts 12 months depending on usage and sediment quantity. The second stage reduces iron, manganese and sulfur: the radial flow design provides excellent filtration with minimal pressure drop (less than 1 PSI) to effectively reduce iron, manganese and sulfur smell in water up to 3 PPM combined contaminant load. The third stage features a radial flow granular activated coconut shell carbon that removes chemicals, taste and odor up to 100,000 gal. Included is the Home Master Filter System with filters, steel mounting bracket with bolts, housing wrench and instructions.
  • Massive filter housings with 1 in. ports for the strongest water pressure possible, up to 15 GPM
  • 4-gradient density replaceable sediment filter produces finer filtration and greater dirt holding capacity with filtration down to 1 micron
  • Great for well water; for city water, consider model #HMF2SmgCC
  • Excellent purification removes up to 95% of iron, manganese, sediment, chemicals and other contaminants that create foul tastes and odors; treats iron and manganese up to 3 PPM combined load
  • Oversized filters improve flow rate and reduce maintenance frequency
  • Check your installation space before ordering; system dimensions: 27 in. H x 24 in. W x 9 in. D
  • Operating conditions-pH: 7-10; iron: 0-3 PPM; iron bacteria: none; manganese: 0-1 PPM; hydrogen sulfide: 0-1 PPM; feed water: PSI: 20-90; feed water temperature: 40-100F max; total dissolved solids (TDS): 2000 PPM

      Answer This Question

A:  Sediment Filter change as needed ( recommend pleated as you will get better filter life over fiber) depending on water quality, yearly for carbon block and activated carbon. I installed this 3 years ago and am very satisfied with the results.

      by|Feb 18, 2021

A:  Yes, or more often, depending on water usage.

      by|Feb 21, 2021

A:  That depends on how much water you use and how dirty your water is. You will be changing the first filter, the sediment filter, at least every six months.

        Answer This Question

A:  We have moved to a single oring design. In your case, you may either remove the lower oring and only use the upper oring or change both. In both cases, please be sure to use ample silicon grease on the oring and housing threads. When closing, please be sure to tight just to snug fit. Do not overtighten.

Installation Tips for Home Master Whole House 3 Filter System
I have iron-rich well water, and this filtering system made it possible to drink the water from our tap and eliminated the orange stains we had. Tips for installing: I suggest installing the system with a bypass, as shown in the picture. You need three ball valves to do that. This will allow you to easily switch the filtering system in or out as needed. I have pressure gauges before and after the filters, but they aren't visible in the image. I installed this system using 1" sweated type L copper pipe ( I had some sharkbite items so I use them as well). There are two places to expect potential drip/leak problems. The 1" male adapter to the inlet and outlets can leak. I suggest 5-7 generous wraps with PTFE tape, and tighten in all the way home (don't use pipe thread sealant). If you are going to sweat copper pipe, be really careful about heating the system, which is made of polypropylene plastic. The filters for Iron and Carbon have rubber gaskets on either end. These can easily pop off when the filter is dropped into the canister. The simple way to prevent this is to set the filter upright and then lower the canister down onto it, rather than dropping the filter into the canister. That will insure that the gasket remains intact and makes a good contact with the canister. The o-rings on the canisters are a second potential problem. They come with some silicon grease, but you should add a modest amount more. No need to go heavy with the grease - and use food grade silicone grease. Check carefully how the o-ring sits in its channel at the top of the canister before you screw the canister in. If it shows the slightest tendency to move out of the channel, then you will very likely have a bad seal and a leak when you screw it in. Very likely the o-ring will also be deformed as a result, and will need to be replaced. So a good idea is to order extra O-rings when you buy the system. Adding silicon grease to the canister threads doesn't prevent leaks - the only pressure seal is with the o-ring. Greasing the threads may help if you unscrew the canister later on, but a simple trick for unscrewing tight canisters is to heat them with a hair dryer (after you relieve all of the pressure in the system). Screw in the canisters carefully, but don't overtighten. I found that after I hand tightened, a further1/4 turn with the wrench was all that was needed. The Iron filter weighs a lot, and this makes screwing it is quite hard, as you have to push upward and rotate at the same time. Placing a support under the canister and eyeballing that it is square with the holder made screwing it in much easier. Good luck!

Great product fixed my well water issue.
I installed this in my cabin due to sediment and discoloration of the water. The cabin is in the pocono mountains of PA and the water issue is very common with my neighbors who have wells. Some have water services and have filter changes every two months. I noticed a slight pressure drop at 11 months and changed my filters the water was still crystal clear. When I changed them I couldn't believe what they had pulled out of the water and I only experienced a slight pressure drop. I totally recommend this system for anyone that has a well. Also perfect water has very friendly and helpful customer support to answer all your questions

              Great company
Great water filter, we've had hard water issues living in central Florida, bit this has been fantastic, the smell of sulfur and hard water stains area gone. It's been over 3 years now and it has performed flawlessly. Can't recommend them enough.

Installation was not an easy task for the average DIY-er, but we managed to get it installed after a lot of research. Learning how to shock our well was probably the most challenging step of this entire process, but overall we are happy thus far with the unit! Our water isn't as orange and it smells cleaner.

We installed the Home Master system along with an ultraviolet filter, about 30 days ago, and our lives are absolutely changed. It has made basically undrinkable water, with a terrible taste, that could not past a water test, into water that does pass water tests, and tastes like good bottled water. We could not be happier with it.

This product has done it's job to clear up the Iron in the water and the smell. I still have very light the smell in my Hot water but I did not drain it completely. I will find the time to drain it in the next 2 weeks. It would be nice if the instructions listed the size of the connector needed to hook up to the filter. It's a 1 inch for anyone's future reference. Shame on me for not checking the size I guess. I will repost to this review in a few weeks once I let it break in.

                  Life Changing Filtration System!
The system was easy to install with the help of a plumber friend during a basement build-out. We placed it post-irrigation as to not waste the filters on the sprinklers (hint hint), and it has done an amazing job for the whole house!! We have well-supplied water and this system has virtually eliminated all rust stains, rotten egg odors and mineral build-up in our sinks, baths, dishwasher, and washing machine. Our food, skin and hair is healthier, dishes are always spotless, and clothes are the cleanest ever! I even hooked up a hose bib post-filter to wash the car, and it dries without spotting! Who knew filtered water would be life changing? I highly recommend this product, as well as the excellent customer service from the fine folks at The Perfect Water Company!

                  Major improvement
Our main goal was to find a system that was NOT a salt based water softener system that still required an OS system. And this is part 1 of what we came up with. This filtration system does exactly what it says it does. Which means takes care of everything except the hard water/scale issues (calcium and magnesium). No more smell or brown particles in the water which was huge! (Before & after pictures of toilet water!) It was not designed to be a water softener or conditioner but it does take all the other things like iron and pesticides out of the water. (It's quite heavy so we built a frame for it to be installed on instead of the side of our manufactured home. See picture) FYI: Part 2 is the water conditioning system. We bought the ScaleBlaster which is also sold by Home Depot. I'll be writing a review on that after I've had it installed for a month or so, which is what the manufacturer says it takes to clear out all the scale buildup in the water pipes for the whole house. Hopefully this will take care of the scale issue which is unbelievable here in Mohave Valley, AZ. (Our water is so hard that when I ran the dishwasher the first time everything came out with baked on white scale. I've had to Brillo everything to get it off!!!). So the dishwasher test will make or break the ScaleBlaster!
