Questions & Answers

how long is the augur?

WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THE AUGUR?
Asked by: aln28
It's about three feet, which is NOT enough for ANY toilet, regardless of what some reviewers have said. It's long enough for my master toilet, but I have to find a longer one now for our downstairs toilet because this one does not reach far enough to get the whole clog.

1 inch Lego stuck in toilet side ways, I can feel it with my hand. Not sure anger will go in small opening around it

It won't go down, it's wedge
Asked by: Jean
Hi Jean - In this case, a toilet auger would not retrieve a Lego from the toilet as there is not a way for the head to hook into anything to pull the Lego out. The end of the cable has a corkscrew-like tip that threads its way into clogs and soft objects so you can pull them back out of the toilet. Customer Reviews

Homeowner Toilet Auger is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 516.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works I had a full, clogged toilet for 2 days. The water would not go down. I tried all the methods I could find online that had worked before, and nothing helped. This auger worked, BUT I had to watch a video on Youtube to understand how to operate it. The instructions on the product are not clear whatsoever. My first attempt with the auger was via those instructions, and it didn't work. Once I followed the video, I had a clear toilet within minutes, and out came a ball of makeup remover wipes/baby wipes/and who knows what else, attached to the spiral of the auger. I'm a new homeowner, which means I have very little extra cash! A call to a plumber was the last thing I wanted to do. I am trying to learn as much as I can to do things myself, and I have to admit, I felt a bit triumphant when all the water receded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From clogged to clear in minutes Wife backed up the toilet with femine products that say they are flushable 2 days ago after watching her struggle and getting a good laugh i decided to go down and figure something out besides a plunger. After looking at all the drano type products and figuring out that i had a 50 50 shot i grabbed one that said ''use whole bottle for tough clogs'' headed for plumbing department seen the Rigid™ snake design @ $20 and this one is almost identical it just uses plastic sheath instead of metal. Got home looked at the problem no way drano is going to work in this much water so i went with the snake first. After looking at the picture directions i stuck it in and started twisting away after 1 to 2 minutes drain oppened up completly. Best snake i have ever used. no need to use the classic design unless the peoblem is more then 3 feet away. It took longer to get home from 4 stop lights then it did to clear the drain start to finnish best $9 i ever spent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lifesaver, did the job no prob. Got this to unblock toilet in main bathroom. Suspected 1 1/2 year old daughter had put something down the lav. Tried several plunges and it would improve a bit but then block up again. It would flush but not fully. None of the other drains or other toIlet had a problem so it pointed to a problem between this loo and where it joins the main drain and most likely the trap. Tried 50ft drain auger bc 30500 but it wouldn't make the bend. Used this one as directed and pulled out a cosmetic tool 1st try!. Toilet now flushes perfectly again. No issue with plastic breaking as others have reported. Was a little tricky to get it all the way in but once i positioned it correctly it made the bends. Worked for me!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing ever! My toilet clogged last night and I tried 1,001 things I learned on the net to unclog it to no avail. Purchased this at Home Depot and within 2 attempts (first try I was just getting the hang of it) and the toilet clog was cleared and it's now flushing better than ever. For a mere $9, we were able to avoid a costly plumber and who knows how many more days of having to share bathrooms?? OK, so it's not a snazzy or sturdy feeling as the other augers.... but since it saved me maybe $150+ on a possible call to the plumber and since this doesn't happen too often at all, it was such a great buy. I'll be keeping it in the garage in case it ever happens again. But even if all I get is just one more successful use out of it -- or if not even that -- it's still worth what I paid for it and avoided the professional plumber upcharge. TIP: I agree with the previous poster. Definitely check out the youtube video. The instructions on the product itself is not that clear. But watching it, it's a cinch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every parent should own this It took a bit of perseverance and patience but this auger did the trick to clear our toilet! The instructions on it are "meh", and since I'm a "learn by watching and doing" type person, I recommend using youtube to watch how this is used so it makes more sense. After seeing it in action, the instructions that came with it clicked better. At one point i thought the auger got stuck due to the curves in the pipe but I kept rotating and pushing and sure enough, it got through! Definitely well worth the $9!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Are you kiddin' me? Messed with a clog for 3-4 days. Hot water, plunger whatever I could think of...Saw this online and read the reviews. Most were favorable and those that were 1's and 2's whined about scratches in toilet or breaking the plastic. I took a chance and bought one. If anyone complaining had watched the you tube video there would not have been a complaint. Even the 4 step instructions were spot on. I ran it down twice. The clog was pushed through and I have 2 working toilets again. If one can follow directions, this can't mar the toilet nor will it break. Great value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Household Helper!! I have had the pleasure of using this toilet auger 2 times in the short time I've owned it, and it worked great and unclogged the toilet both times and relieved me of my despair, and saved me the cost of having to call a plumber. On one of my toilets, it went in without a problem, the other toilet with a different design, I had a harder time getting the spring to go in, and it finally did. Part of it could have been from me not knowing what to do, or how to use it, and being panicked at the time. The rubber guard keeps the toilet from getting scratched, only if you use it correctly as the directions state. I used it wrong the first time, and I scratched the toilet bowl up, but that was my fault. The scratches are fading as time goes on. If you don't know how to use one, I would recommend that you watch a youtube video, it's actually really simple once you get the hang of it. I would recommend that everyone have one in their house for emergencies.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from it worked 3/3 times for us for our tenant's papertowels and whatnot. A chunk of plastic broke off... it worked 3/3 times for us for our tenant's papertowels and whatnot. A chunk of plastic broke off the 4th time and it now the exposed metal scratches the toilet. still usable, but I may not use it and get the M brand one for $50. If you just need it once or twice, this could be good enough for you. The auger is a little thinner than the heavy duty one. If you're a homeowner that just needs it once or twice, get this one. if you need it for the long run or you do property management, get the expensive one.
