Questions & Answers

Is there a outside water facet that does not drip!!?? I turn it off as hard as I can but it still drips!!

Asked by: Sunshineg
You shouldn't have to crush any valve hard to get it too shut off. If mine did that, I would take it apart and look for whatever crud or scratch is on the valve seat as that is the only possibility. You may need to rig up a tool to lap the seat in the body of the valve and replace the rubber if it's looking nefarious. I haven't used mine that much, but that would be a good idea to have the tool ready if needed. I'll put it on my ADD list in the shop. I have another valve I haven't installed yet to try it out on. I just checked and HD sells a 'Long Stem Faucet Reseating Tool' for about ten bucks. I may need to check it out and add it to my tool bin if there is a flat seat at the bottom of this sillcock. It's too short, as this frostproof is LONG, so I'll just rig up an extension. I would first try to find one that would use sandpaper for the first go round, or just cut circles of emery cloth to use on this one.

Replacing existing frost sillcock, how much length( existing copper line) has to be figured with length of sillcock to have flush against outside wall. Simply how far onto pipe does valve extend
Asked by: medic109
I didn't measure mine, but it was about 3/4" if I remember correctly. If you got the valve in your hand, just jam a piece of pex in there and use the 2 buck release tool to get an accurate measurement. It should be the same as any sharkbite fitting. On my installation, I cut the copper pipe back a couple feet and used a section of PEX to connect the copper to this sillcock. I have a brick house and a crawl space, so I had plenty of room underneath the house to play with. I installed the valve flush with the brick and then cut the PEX to the proper length, actually a little longer as it is easy to work with.. I was by myself and didn't want to bother trying to jam the sillcock in from outside and be able to mate up perfectly with the copper pipe. I also added a Tee fitting in the pex section and ran off with another water line in a different location.

can this product be rebuilt

can this product be rebuilt
Asked by: jim
Yes but don’t bother. The company just keeps sending out the same piece of junk (the stem). It’s poorly designed. Instead of a solid piece of rubber for the washer they are using this flimsy replacement that tears therefore causing faucet to leak. The last one they sent me now won’t let any water through. Just get a dribble. I can’t believe the good reviews that this pos is getting.

Can frost free push fit be used for hot water lines?

Asked by: 1rookieplumbet
I don't see why not. The interior washers and all are standard like a regular faucet. I will assume you want it in a stable setup or something like that?

3/4 in. x 8 in. Brass Anti-Siphon Frost Free Sillcock Valve with Push-Fit Connections is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks after a single freeze but easy to install The sealing ring that keeps water from leaking out of the handle fails 100% on a single freeze. I have had a warranty replacement already and it still operates in this way. They use a black rubber sealing ring that tends to fall apart even when it is a completely new product. See the picture attached for where it leaks from. Running the faucet in cooler temperatures (55F) after a freeze without the hose hooked up seems to cause it to fail every time. I would not recommend this product for climate regions where watering is needed in the winter. I should note that it still leaked in the summer as well on 1 out of 2 of the faucets I've received. However, I am unable to test the other faucet since it is not summer anymore. Plus side: The easy installation was nice, but the mechanical design of the product itself leaves much to be desired.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flow is terrible (I'm nearly certain I'm reviewing the correct model of this unit that I bought and installed last year.) After complaining about the apparent flow rate of this unit, I just quantitatively compared the flow rate of this hose unit vs the 1/2" non-freeze-free sillcock installed on the other side of my house - and the lame little sillcock on 1/2" copper filled the bucket twice as fast as this one installed on 3/4" copper. It takes me nearly twice as long to water my plants than it used to take with my old 3/4" frost-free sillcock - I'm extremely disappointed that I decided to replace the whole unit rather than just replace the washers on the one I had. Plus, it takes perhaps 5 whole turns to go from closed to open - you can't do any better than that?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, easy to connect. I bought this to allow an outdoor hose connection, which I had not had for some time due to enclosing a basement vent. This is an old house with a very thick foundation and sill. Luckily a hole was present through the sill that I needed to expand. The connection is as easy as it could be, simply press the supply line (pex, in my case) into the end of the sillcock and pass the entire piece through the hole. Using other press fit connections made the rest of the job easy. Very pleased with the results. Here in VT frost protection is important.

This faucet is horrible, cheaply made, we paid more thinking we would get a lifetime faucet! The one in the backyard lasted about 3 months, and now the one in the front yard did the same thing!! The handle pops out about 1/2 inch when I went to turn it off, it just turned and turned and wouldn't turn off. So we had to turn the water off at the road, run to Home Depot and get another one, which i'm sure now will not last either because the one in the front yard just did the same exact thing!!! Ugh!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from May seem a bit expensive but well made. The faucet is made of brass, and is sweated togather. Heavy in weight, Just got them but seem very well made. You get what you pay for.
