I absolutely love the mower! Starts on the first pull everytime. It's very easy to manage and so far have not had any issues. It's my first Honda mower and feel I made the right decision.

Blowing Oil Right Out Of The Box
Mower was leaking oil from the start.
Repaired under the 5 Year Warranty but it's still leaking oil and the mower is destroyed thanks to our local Honda Authorized Repair Center leaving the mower outside during an ice storm.
Honda has been no help at all.
Both the mower and the warranty are worthless.

First Impressions of my New Honda Lawn Mower
I have owned a Honda Lawn Mower for over 35 years. Very happy with the old product. Just bought a new Honda Mower HRX217HYA (10-31-22). Works well, but on my second use yesterday, the Recoil Starter Grip broke (see attached picture). Poor, brittle polymer with very thin walls. The starter grip on my old mower lasted 35 years without a problem. I expect Honda will provide me with a new handle under warranty (since the product is only 12 days old).

Broken wheel at 34 hours
So I bought this mower at the beginning of the season and everything had been pretty good until yesterday when I noticed the mower pulling to one side and found that only one wheel was spinning when the self propel was engaged. Turns out the wheel has some plastic teeth that hold the metal drive gear in place and the plastic was mangled and would not hold the gear in place any longer.
Honda won't provide a replacement wheel under warranty unless I go to a dealer.

Honda mowers are by far the best mowers
I purchased my first and only Honda mower 16 years ago and its still going strong and its going to my daughter. Never a single issue. So when it came time to pickup a new one there was only one option, and that was the Honda. I am pleased with the purchase. When setting my current model next to the new one I am not pleased with the fit and finish and what seems like missing parts. Not having a bottom cover to the throttle and cruise control seems odd.

Great lawn mower.
I bought this same mower 15 years ago. It is still running great. My son just bought his first house, so I handed down the 2007 model year to him and I bought this new 2022 model year mower for myself.

Bought to replace 15 year old HRX217 that lost its ability to pull itself. The cut was perfect it’s whole life. Once you buy a Honda mower, you are sold for life.

Hmmm
This is my 2nd Hydrostatic. The reason i deducted a star is the top of the bag sits higher than the back of the mower. Causing grass to collect on the mower under the cover shield. Picture: Bottom of the picture is the top of the mower under the cover shield. (Yes, where grass is.) Top of the picture is the bag opening and inside the bag. Bag is attached to mower. Also, the bottom of the left side of the handle was bent inward. I discovered that when i opened the box at home. Other than that, cuts good. I am just disappointed on the bag design.

HRX217HYA Lawn Mower
I'm 63 and this is the best lawnmower I've ever owned. The fluid hydrostatic transmission is amazing. So smooth and consistent variable speeds. The roto-stop blade clutch and engine staying running is great. I've never had rear wheel drive and didn't realize how nice it is cutting this widow maker hill. The double ball bearing wheels ride so smooth and no hollowing out the wheel hub and going katiwampus. I don't use the bag because the mulcher and double blade makes the grass clippings disappear. Starting without the blade engaged is so easy and starts on second easy pull every time. The controls are so easy to get used to and work so well. I really have great control with ease when cutting the lawn. It's well worth the extra money and so glad I bought it.
