Questions & Answers

How many pulls to start the 25 cc? Alright for a "lightweight" (strength) person?

Asked by: wrenly
I use a very low octane (less than 5 %) fuel and it pretty much starts up right away, usually on the 1st pull. This trimmer does weigh 14 lbs., heavier than most, and you do feel it after awhile even using the shoulder strap. So, keep that in mind.

Why is this $330? I bought a whole Honda mower for $400. Why is this trimmer $100 more than other ones?

Asked by: Anthony
The quality of it and if you trade it in for a new one the trade in value is good. Is use a lot of trimmers and the quality out stand the others

HI COULD I PURCHASE THIS AT A LOCAL STORE ?

Asked by: YARDMAN
You can purchase it at Home Depot. I don't think that they have this on display at the store, you can order it online & pick it up at the store or they will ship it to you for free.

Customer Reviews

25 cc Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good 4stroke with some caveats If you're looking at this, it's because you want a 4 stroke or you prefer Honda power for your tools. If so, this is your trimmer with some caveats. First off... for motor performance, it's a smooth running engine and starts on the first pull. You get sufficient power at partial throttle which means better fuel efficiency. As for the cons; it's (obviously) heavier than the 2stroke counterparts which can be fatiguing. For the price you pay, build quality could be better I think. This is only because I'm comparing it to the only other trimmer I've used (Shindaiwa 2 stroke). The Shin I've used felt more comfortable (lighter weight aside). Shin has rubber grips, more solid loop handle and an overall snappier trigger. As for the bump&feed system, it's the same issue as others would encounter from other brands as well. Honda would be wise to adopt Shin's speed-feed system. Now to the bottom line; is it worth the price? That all depends on *your* perception. For me, I see value w/r to total cost of ownership. Buy right once. Cheers

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't stay running I just want to start off my saying I have a Honda mower I absolutely love. With that being said, I can't say the same about this trimmer. I ordered it a few weeks ago and put it together quickly. I was excited about not having to mix oil and gas anymore like I did with my 2 stoke trimmers as this is a 4 stroke that has separate compartments for gas and oil. It really is a nice looking trimmer and appears to have quality parts. Now for the bad. It took several pulls to get it started. Once started it would not run at full throttle without dying out. I read other reviews with this same problem and they said to loosen the gas cap a little. Didn't work at all. I let it sit and restarted it only to have the same issue. It ran at 3/4 throttle so I was able to do my lawn before returning it to the store. I really wanted this trimmer to work well but it just honestly did not. I spent close to $350 out the door for this thing and for it not to run flawlessly was unacceptable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fine Weedcutter Indeed! In comparison to a 2-cycle this machine seems to be running @ half speed, due to its firing every other stroke. This lowers the sound frequency and presents a more friendly noise field to my ears. It spins fast enough at half throttle and has plenty of power for tall grass. Mature blackberry cane gives it a bit of a chew however. The only issue for me is that I am not a fan of "bump adjusters" for the string, which is probably why I had trouble with this. I trust this to be my misunderstanding, not the design. Very little vibration, clean burning engine, and the adjustable sling makes for a good balanced tool. Go for the four!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have had my Honda string trimmer for over 3 years. I love how easy it is to start and how well ... I have had my Honda string trimmer for over 3 years. I love how easy it is to start and how well the 4 cycle engine runs. I HATE the poorly designed the string feed head. While using the trimmer, I can usually bump the head on the ground to feed more string out. But all too often the head will come apart, the string comes out and wraps around the outside of the head (See picture). I spend the next hour fixing the head. I have also taken it to a Honda dealer to fix it ($85 each time) and even he admits the string trimmer head on the Honda trimmers have a major design problem that needs to be fixed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GOOD UNIT BAD SERVICE This is very good unit, the motor runs great, quiet, low vibration and cut very good for edging or just trimming in any position. The CON with this unit is NOT the unit itself. I had problem with this unit when I first got it. When I would rotate it to edge, the unit would stall. After a few hour of play around. I loosen the gas cap and the unit started to run fine even after running it for a hour with the cap tight again (I did rotate the disk inside the cap) in all position including upside down. I believe it was just the cap not permitting air to get into the fuel tank. My biggest problem with this unit is changing the string, it can be a pain. Make sure the line is tight on the spool or it will jam. Still I am happy with the unit (4 stars). Why 3 star??? There is NO Customer Service!!!! There is only a recording saying to take it to a Honda dealer. This includes if your missing a part, want to buy a part or ask question (NO REAL PERSON). BEFORE BUYING THIS UNIT, CHECK HONDA'S WEB SITE TO SEE IF THERE'S A HONDA DEALER FOR THIS UNIT IN YOUR AREA!!! I would recommend this unit but see above first
