2800-Watt Recoil Start Portable Gasoline Powered Inverter Generator with Eco-Throttle and Oil Alert

Of course I wanted the EU3000is, but this is half the cost, and it's got everything I need. This is not going to be used daily for work or weekly for camping; this is strictly for emergencies. It started first pull and on the ECO setting the noise level is very tolerable;I'd be surprised if my neighbors noticed it, especially since there's usually a backpack leaf blower screaming nearby. There are many other brands of inverter generators available, and most have a lot of options that seem nice, but there's a reason everybody seems compelled to compare them to Hondas. This is definitely a nice little machine.

Bought this unit since I promised myself and my wife that we'd never risk freezing thru another power outage like TX experienced a few winters ago. Considered options related to permanently installed, gas fired generator and could never justify the incremental cost for such an installation though the benefit would be that I'd be able to size a fixed installation to handle my 2 AC units. My decision came down to ordering my priorities against cost and making a decision that would handle my fundamental needs. I figure that with a nominal 14 hour run time per tank of gas, I can rotate 3-4 Jerry Cans of fuel to keep them fresh and get 95% of my worry over a maximum credible outage addressed with this large gasoline unit. I've been impressed with how quiet this machine is whether in the ECO or NORMAL mode. Fueled up and engine started on first push of the starter button. Astonished how fast this thing came up from the factory. In ECO mode the motor pulls back to ~2400 RPM at minimum load; in NORMAL mode it runs at ~3300 RPM. Given that the unit is (more or less) totally enclosed, motor noise is shockingly low. Have connected to my house panel via a 10 circuit Reliance ProTrans panel. Installation was simple though since I have 2 parallel - 200AMP panels it was more time consuming than Reliance literature would lead you to believe. On a test run, was able to power up septic sump pump, gas fired heater, 2 refrigerators, 1 of either 1000W microwave or large toaster oven and 3 light circuits. Wish I and another 5 lighting circuits I could transfer to the Genset since they are minimal load and won't stress the unit. If I hadn't needed to dedicate 2 circuits to the 240V septic pump, I'm persuaded balancing loads between 2 120V lines would have been easier and I probably could have had both microwave and toaster over on together. While local Honda dealers say its ok to run in the rain (and I'm tempted to believe them after going thru the shop manual and looking at how its built), but I've created a removable rain cover for the top / sides / (up to 16"down) the front face. Used ~$40 in parts and the cover collapses easily for storage. Lots cheaper option and same coverage as GenTent cover that seems like its next best option for rain coverage. I see no need to house in an external housing like many on YouTube are doing unless garage or other indoor storage is unlikely. At the one month point - no regrets over my purchase.

Brand new run 30 hours in -8c and blowout ! Intake seal valve worn out the générator burn oil and white fume, go to honda , my warranty period is 2 years, then i have the machine in my garage and don’t have run ! Since 3 years , i sale it for piece 200$ i have pay 1700$ i dont be happy with this honda!

Worked great during the power outage we had a week ago. So happy to have it!

The generator worked great when our power was out to keep our heat on and lights working. Only negative was difficulty getting it started the first time. Description should have stated electric cord not included.

Generator came well packaged within a thick cardboard box with plywood on top and delivered on a pallet; perfect shipping. The unit itself matches the hype and is ultra quiet and fully encased with user friendly control panel. I had a lot of anxiety about spending 5 grand but that faded away immediately by the quality and engineering that went into unit, and the known Honda reliability. If you can afford one then invest you won’t be sorry.

Awesome generator. Very quiet

3weeks old and hands down much quietier the my old Onan 5500. Fuel injection makes it amazing on gas.
