Product Overview

  • Durable, easy-starting, long-life Honda commercial engine
  • Honda-exclusive DAVR (Digital Auto Voltage Regulation)
  • Economic, portable power runs 10 hours at half load
The EG6500 is the best of both worlds: a reliable source of "no frills" power and cost saving efficiency. Equipped with a rugged frame, Honda Commercial Engine, Auto Voltage Regulator. And all new GFCI outlet protection, this generator is a must have.
  • EG6500 uses Honda's exclusive DAVR (digital automatic voltage regulator), the DAVR is designed to hold the voltage stability within a +/- 1% range during operation, this provides more consistent power
  • Legendary Honda commercial-grade OHV engines are reliable, easy-to-start and incredibly rugged
  • 120/240-Volt selector switch - more usable power, more flexibility: choose between using both 120 and 240-Volt, or 120-Volt only, this allows for the total generator output to be available through any of the 120-Volt outlets, limited only by the capacity of the individual outlet, this enables you to power units with larger wattage requirements
  • Keep you working all day long, the EG6500 runs approximately 10 hours at half load and 7.1 hours at full load, for a full day's hard work
  • EG6500 offers six outlets for easy connection of multiple tools, 4 GFCI protected outlets
  • Oil alert protection for peace of mind: protects the generator by shutting the engine off when low oil is detected
  • Tough one piece welded frame, helps protect the generators on all sides, while on a job site
  • All sold units will be warranty registered as commercial use

Questions & Answers

Is this generator suitable for home power back up use?

Most modern appliances, TV's, furnaces and computer equipment have sensitive electronics. Is the power quality clean enough to operate these?
Asked by: JF
No, I wouldn't. It can power a refridgerator, freezer, and TV, but I don't think it has enough to run AC/furnace/sump pump. Its only 6500 watts. I would opt for 10000 watts for home backup. We bought it to power 2 RVs that are on-site.

whats the total harmonic distortion(THD) of this generator. will it run my LED TV and or High-tech refrigerator.
Asked by: joh445
Honda does not publish THD specs for any of their generators. This model does offer a very 'clean' power profile, an can safely drive sensitive electronics with no worries. -Robert@honda

Trying to determine if this will be sufficient to run a 13,500 RV air conditioner, some tv's and some duplexes- v/ EB650

For a 32' traveling showroom
Asked by: KentuckyA
No problem. A 13.5k BTU will need right at 3,000 watts to reliably start and run, which gives you plenty of extra for the TVs and other outlets. A couple of cautions: Don't mount it inside any kind of enclosure or it would get enough air to run properly (plus there's a significant risk of fire. Next, this is not a super-quiet model, so be prepared to place it 25-50 feet away from the trailer to minimize the noise level. -Robert@Honda

Is this generator good for a food trailer, powering two refrigerators, lights and warmer or two

Asked by: tim
Tim: Step 1 is to do a bit of math. Find out what the wattage requirements are for everything you want to run from the generator. This will give you some idea of how much power you'll really need. Next, you want to shop for a generator that make a bit MORE power, just for some extra cushion, and to give you some room to expand. This model is rated to make 5,500 watts all day long, and can surge to 6,500 watts for up to 30 minutes at a time. -Robert@Honda

Nice machine, runs quiet for something this size and powers my construction tools no problem. I have no problems starting it, but my wife can't pull the starter cord hard enough to turn it over if I'm not around and the power goes out at our house. It seems to pull her more than she pulls it. In hind sight we should of spent more for the electric start model. Otherwise it's great.
