Do you just put this in the ground and take it back out every time you use it, or is there a socket for the ground that remains in place?
Asked by: MR
You can leave it in the ground, it does no harm. There is a socket that goes into a cemented hole. If you have not purchased it, don't. I have had one for a couple of months and it is literally falling apart.

How do you tighten the lines when they become loose? My lines are so loose that I can longer use it. It's not 60 days old

Asked by: Gravesklan
I had the same problem. I would tighten them very carefully, one row at a time, starting from the middle working out. However, the frame started to break and now the unit is no good.

The install was easy enough, and at first I thought it was going to be a great product…until we put clothes on it. That’s when the whole thing collapsed. And for the record, as you’ll see in the photo, it wasn’t exactly overloaded – there was a grand total of 3 shirts hanging from it. The problem is in the piece that slides up and down the pole designed to make it easily collapsible – it barely catches the hole that keeps it up. I ended up putting a screw through it to prevent it from ever collapsing again, but obviously this is less than ideal. Do yourself a favor and find a better umbrella clothesline.

The lines on this unit kept stretching to the point where it was not practical. Then the frame started to break. Now no use to anyone. Not happy with this at all.

This is the second one, the first one would collapse without any clothes on. This one works ok for a while and then I think when there is a little wind it collapses. I finally put a hose clamp on the frame and that at least keeps it up. I also cannot push up the umbrella to a higher setting so the plastic lines are not so loose. I have had to tie loops in the lines to tighten them, but they are still very loose. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Each time once I installed them I checked that the lines would stay up by pushing down on the vanes after I had extended the lines to the height I wanted. In both cases the locking pin failed to hold the lines up after the wash had been on the line for an hour or so. There were no strong winds or any other factor to cause the pin to release. It seems as if the normal movement of the dryer eventually jostles the locking pin enough that it pops out of the hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, with user improvements With Summer coming and my AC bill rising, I was looking for a way to cut some electricity usage. My electric dryer was number one on the list. Living in Texas, our Summers are long, dry and hot. Didn't make sense not to use the Sun to dry at least some of our clothes. When setting up this clothes dryer, the first thing I noticed was how short the plastic base seemed. After digging it in and packing the dirt around it, the sturdiness did not inspire confidence. True, I have rather sandy soil, but I think this would not be a really sturdy unit in almost any soil. There is a hole in the bottom of the plastic base so I got the idea to run a piece of pipe I had left over through the hole and sticking up near ground level. Much better! I believe it would be even better if one were to make a small 12"x12" concrete pad with the base in it to stabilize it even more. Over all a good product except for the shallow plastic base. Overall, I am satisfied because the small issue I had with the product was an easy fix.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I think I got a used one! This came with the box all tore up at the top and taped up with no instructions or paperwork whatsoever. I am not sure if the "line" is supposed to be already attached and tangled up or if someone tried to put this together and then returned it. All I know is it was a mess and I had to do a lot of work just to get the line untangled in order to even use it. I had to do some searching online to find a "manual" for this, which was almost useless anyway, other than it told me I had to pour some cement in a hole in order to use it. Once I got all that sorted out and put the darn thing up and put a few pieces of clothes on it, it collapsed. I cannot get it to stay up at all. I just don't get it. My only option I can think of is to put it up as far as I can and then duct tape the piece of junk so it stays up. This was entirely too much work to make it worth it. It seemed the line would stretch very easily as well. I had it all nice and tight and then it was not once I put anything on it. I had to pull the line through more and tie knots to hold it and it just seemed I always had a loose line. I am very disappointed with this and want to return it. I would like to see one that works!
