Asked by HippieChic April 14, 2020Yes, the shelves are made of slats - There are 10 slats on each shelf. The slats are made to go up and down rather than lay flat - Each slat is approx. 1/4 inch wide and then they run approx. 1/2 inch deep. There is approx. 3/4 inch of open space in between each slat. I haven't had many problems with putting things on the slats, very rare. I have makeup and chachkies on them. Any more questions feel free to ask.
