My wife makes great homemade pizzas BUT my pizza stone just cracked one day. Rather than buying a new one my wife started using a cookie sheet...YUCK.. When I saw this item I jumped on it and we put it to use right away. This is a very large and heavy pizza stone that cooked up a delightful pie on it's first use. We followed it up with a homemade loaf of Italian bread with the enclosed recipe. This stone was packaged incredibly well and took a good 5 minutes to unpack. Overall we are very pleased with this product and hope it lasts a long time.

What a great way to make a frozen pizza taste better. There are two ways I use this stone depending on how I want the crust to come out. The first way, leave the stone in the oven as it warms up this gives it a good hot surface to start the cooking with, this way cooks the crust a bit crispier. The other way, keep the stone out while the oven preheats and put the frozen pizza on the stone. This gives a bit softer crust as it cooks only from the top. Also depends on the type of pizza I am starting with, thick / thin / rising curst / stuffed crust. Experiment a bit to find what you like for the type of curst you are using. We mainly use it for frozen pizzas, would also work for homemade pizza, however we have not tried it yet. I am sure it will work great as well.

The Honey-Can-Do Old Stone Oven Round Pizza Stone is 16 inches in diameter. It features a smooth top and raised ridges on the bottom to make it easier to lift off a flat surface. The stone material is porous and the instruction indicate it should not be used for anything with high fat content as it will absorb into the stone causing smoking, odors and stains. I used the stone to cook a premade pizza from a local warehouse store. The pizza came out with a crispier crust than I have experienced with pizza trays or directly on the rack. However, this came at the cost of time. The stone requires a heat up period of 20-25 minutes at 500 degrees. The longer it preheats the crispier the crust will be. I don’t own a pizza peel so removal was tricky. The instructions include recipes for making dough and the instructions talk about putting flour on the peel to prevent sticking. I suspect if my premade pizza had flour on the bottom it might not have stuck to the stone so much. I used a spatula to break the pizza free but large chunks of pizza crust stuck to the surface in certain areas. Scrapping post cooking debris off the stone took some effort. The instructions state to use a scouring pad or for heavy accumulation use emery paper or a belt sander. I used a knife and that did leave some discoloration on the stone. Drippings can be left on but they may cause smoking during future cooking. What I really found beneficial was reheating pizza. The stone helped bring crispiness back to the left over pizza that you will not get in a microwave or a simple reheat in the oven. The stone is heavy so you might consider just leaving it in the oven on the bottom rack but cover it with foil so drippings from other food items don’t end up on it. Considering the cost of the stone, finding a single page of recipes and instructions that had been through numerous generations of photocopying was a real disappointment. The text was degraded and very light in color.

Pizza Stone

(What's this)
I liked the included recipes, but frankly don't see myself making yeast dough pizza crust from scratch often. (You can buy pizza dough in a can or fresh in some stores.) They need to include a better copy, however, as the copy ink was dark grey rather then black. This thing is HEAVY, so be prepared for a workout when hefting it in and out of the oven. Read all the info on care first, but it's really not hard to maintain one of these if you can avoid breaking it. Stone pizza pans like this one give a nice crispy crust and they do "season" over time. I have a small one that I've had for years and it really makes a nice crust. I wanted to expand my pizza size with this stone & I certainly did. They recommend just keeping it on the bottom oven rack so you don't have to find a place to store this big thing. Other than having an outdoor pizza oven with a brick floor, this stone pan is the best way to get a really nice crispy crust.

This stone is good size, but still easily fits the oven. The stone is large enough for big pizzas. We make our own crust so we covered the whole stone. We pre-heated the stone, loaded the pizza, cooked it, everything worked well. We have made several different pizzas, thick, thin, large and small. The only downside we found is that it is a bit hard to clean. Wish I had 2 of these now.

I have several pizza stones purchased from local stores and they are OK,But this Old Stone is a totally different animal. It is thicker and heavier than the other stones and it is not flat on the bottom like the other stones but has risers in the center and on the edges that I am guessing is to direct heat to keep from getting cold spots. It works well and I wont be buying any other stone, this one just works better.

I purchased this stone to cook pizzas in my Kamado style grill which can easily reach 700+ degrees. It fit my grill perfectly. I love the larger size of this stone. If you are going to cook large or extra large pizzas you need this bigger size. You can use this stone to cook other things as well. It is thick and well made. I would recommend this product.

My family and I love pizza.... and over the past few years we have mastered using a pizza dough recipe and homemaking it. If you want your pizza crust to taste restaurant-quality, this pizza stone is a must-have! It creates the most amazing pizza crust... crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Our young boys don't even miss having fast food pizza! Just put the stone in the oven before turning it on, let it come up to temperature with the oven, and drop your pizza on it with a corn meal-dusted pizza peel. And don't wash it with dish soap, just scrape off food and use warm water. Its great to heat up leftover restaurant or store-bought pizza as well.

Have used it in an egg BBQ grill and in oven. Advantage is it accommodates a 16” pizza (store bought take and bakes are too big for the smaller stones). In the oven it seems to do a lot better job of cooking evenly across the whole pie. Must have is good 14”+ pizza peel.
