Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
The reason I got this is my two teenage kids eat lots of frozen pizza and would often burn themselves reaching into get the pizza off the pizza stone. My son will use this by going under the stone and taking the everything out at once, it is a bit heavy this way. What is nice is the peel can handle it. Whereas my daughter will quickly slide the Pizza Peel under the pizza and leave the stone in the oven. Both work great... We also use this for more than pizza, a great general purpose tool for getting stuff out of the oven without getting burned. The peel does come untreated, ie seasoned. I will be seasoning mine with vegetable oil as soon as I can find a pan big enough to soak it. I may actually end up just placing several coats of vegetable oil on it with a basting brush. It does work well and the kids have not been burned yet while using it.

(What's this)
Sometimes the simplest things make one's life easier. Can't get much simpler than a big wooden paddle....think of an over-sized ping pong paddle...but by providing a solid surface to layout the pizza (using some flour to prevent sticking) and a way to easily transfer the pizza onto a pre-heated pizza stone in the oven without burning ones finger..this will be a go to kitchen tool for anyone into making homemade pizza. (Now..lf I could only figure out how to get the pizza dough to be a perfect circle life would be complete).

(What's this)
It's lightweight. It is unfinished ... no food grade polyurethane so the peel stains easily and is hard to clean. The curved end isn't that useful. I tried using it on a pizza stone in my oven ... it wouldn't get completely under the pizza. I thought it was because the crust was so thin that it didn't have the weight to get it completely on the peel. I then tried it with a quiche that my wife accidentally dropped in one piece onto the bottom of the oven. It had the same issue with the quiche as the pizza. Neither would get completely on the peel, and it is due to the peel being unfinished. Too much friction to get it completely on even with a good thrust stroke. I can't recommend this if you just want something to buy and use. To get it useful you need to put down a food grade finish, sand, put down another coat of the finish, sand it again, wipe and make sure the surface of the peel is nice and smooth.

Taking Pizza Night to a New Level

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
My family has almost weekly homemade pizza night, but we never had a peel. We would build them directly on our cookie sheets or sometimes on a cutting board and slide onto a cookie sheet. We got a pizza stone and that just wasn't working anymore. We needed to be able to slide the pizzas onto the stone without burning our hands/forearms or having them stick to the surface. Cutting boards meant our hands were going into the over since there was no handle and the pizza dough often clung to them. I was a bit skeptical that the pizza peel wouldn't stick to the dough, but with just a little flour (I may try cornmeal, too) they slid off beautifully. We used the peel to put them uncooked pizzas into the oven and then slid them back out on the peel as well. It definitely improves the function of pizza night and let's be honest--we just look cooler whipping out the peel, too ;)

The family loves the new 14" Basswood Pizza peel, We use it in the kitchen to remove hot baking cakes and frozen and home made pizzas, the long reach handle kelps to prevent from getting your hand burned when reaching into the oven, It's a must have for anyone with an outdoor pizza over, Good quality wood, strong and sturdy, Better price then some kitchen supply stores. Yes I would recommend

(What's this)
I handed this off to my wife, who is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu culinary school. She has used it several times over the last few months. I asked her to let me know if she liked it. She told me it is a good balance of size and handle length. The bevel was a bit steep so it wasn't as handy as the ones she used in school. However, for home use it is acceptable. The school ones would be too large to be handy in the home kitchen, so she thought this design was an appropriate compromise as it needs to be able to be cleaned easy, fit in normal kitchen cabinets, etc. She's going to continue using this one and doesn't have any plans to get another one. So, I'd say that it's a good product.
