Honeywell Thermostat RTH6500WF
I have had my new thermostat for several days now and so far, I am well satisfied with it. It was easy to set up. I am retired and spend most of my time at home. Setting up a schedule was easy for me.

Failed after warranty expired.
I bought this thermostat and installed it in my garage in February or 2021. I use it to turn on the heat remotely ahead of working in the garage. It worked well for the remainder of 2021 and through the succeeding winter. When I checked on it in September of 2022, it was non-responsive. I connected it to the control board of my home heating system (to eliminate possible wiring problems in the garage) and pronounced it dead when it showed no signs of life there.

The thermostat takes a little work.
I purchased this thermostat Saturday. We have needed this change for awhile, our old thermostat contain mercury. Anyway, if you read the manual and know what you need. On the back of the box lower left hand corner tells you what this thermostat is used for. If you know you have a heat pump and you have a common wire this thermostat will work for you. Just remember our “C” wire was blue., your wiring may not be labeled for a “C” meaning it may not be labeled “C” but requires a common wire. Confused? I was .
I read the manual. I have pictures too and notes. Maybe I can help someone. As a woman who fixes things along the way. At one point I did think I had the wrong thermostat. All because of that common wire, it wasn’t labeled “c” which confused me. But if you read the manual about Alternating wiring you will find it.
But Wi-Fi was a little challenging. But it did work wonderfully. It took awhile to figure that out. Worry about the Wi-Fi after you get it hooked up. Download that app! TCC.

software makes it trash
The software contantly loses connection with external servers, making it useless. There is absolutely no reason this should communicate outside the home network unless explicitly opted in, as it's a ridiculously unnecessary breakpoint, security gap, and likely cover for collecting private data, aka spying. I need a refund.

Misleading packaging
I knew my hot water system with the 2-wire Honeywell Round thermostat would need a 'C' wire. So wasn't I pleased when the box on the WIFI thermostat said "C wire accessory included (see photo). After two calls to Customer service, it turns out the "accessory" is a jumper wire. That's it. 2" of 20 ga wire. Disappointing to say the least.
The label is misleading - calling a stub of wire an accessory, borders on untruthful.
Looks like I'll be returning it.

Will not stay connected to internet
We bought this unit so that it would connect to internet and to be able to use the app. Total waste of time. It disconnects from the internet at least once a week. Have to manual go to unit to change temp. Also unit has code E42. I would not recommend this unit.

Lost internet connection
I installed this in our cabin so I could remotely monitor our temperature and change temperature if I wanted to increase the heat or decrease the heat depending on the outside temperature. This worked great for about four weeks after we left the cabin I was able to monitor the temperature and change temperatures when needed. Before leaving the cabin I had tested it by cutting the power to the cabinet letting it sit for a while without power and when power came back on it fired right up logged onto the router and worked perfectly. After four weeks at home I logged into it through the app and got a message that the Internet connection had been lost and the only way to get it back on was to physically be at the thermostat and push some buttons on the thermostat this is impossible when you’re seven hours away from your cabin. I know the Internet is still working because we have cameras that we use to remote monitor the cabin an they use the Internet and they’re all working perfectly. The “lost the internet connection” must be a real problem for these units because the have a video that shows you how to reconnect it. The only problem is you have to be at the thermostat to do this. So as far as using this to remote monitor a house is a joke. If this problem can’t be fixed I would not buy this product.
