Initial viewing:
Upon opening the box and laying it out on the table, I was impressed by the overall appearance of the shiny chrome, no nicks or irregularities in the finish. All of the parts were neat and cleanly manufactured, no burhs or seams are present. All of the parts are in either sealed plain plastic bags, or, bubble bags, with the exception of the slide bar and slide bracket, The shower heads have flexible jet tips for easy cleaning with six (6) sprayer positions.
Inspection:
All of the threaded parts fasten together easily and tighten securely. The necessary washers and Teflon tape is supplied for sealing the joints. The flexible hose for connecting the one shower head is five (5) feet long with two threaded ends, is mechanically clean and of good quality. The water diverter is snug assembly and the valve operates with defined positions that click. The water diverter seems to be somewhat light and not able to withstand harsh conditions. (someone hanging from the slide bracket)
Two pieces that will NOT work together are the slide bar and the water diverter. The slide bar has a diameter of 7/8” while the bottom opening on the water diverter is 25/32”. That three thirty-seconds (3/32”) on an inch may not seem like much, but we’re talking about rigid plastic and metal parts. (see photos)
A note in the directions makes you aware of the option to use the unit without the slide bar. ;-)
I won’t even attempt to drill out the water diverter, because the top, or larger side of the opening for the slide bar, measures in at 55/64”. 1/64 smaller than the diameter of the slide bar, never mind trying to fit the endcap over the slide bar, and then fitting that in the water diverter.
Initial Assembly and Testing:
I installed the unit without the slide bar, using the position of the slide bar opening, on the water diverter, as a mount for the handheld shower head. The locknut shown in the instructions, couldn’t be used because the threaded area on the shower arm only about 5/16” on an inch long, and even with the extra washer the opening on the water diverter was 9/32”. The water diverter was installed securely, the hose and shower heads were easily installed. When testing, the unit showed no signs of leaking and the directional flow control valve operated without any problems and the shower heads produced a nice firm flow in all of the positions, on either head. The unit is not designed for short people, I’m only 5’ 4” and could barely reach the directional flow valve.
Summary:
With the exception of the slide bar, the unit is quick and easy to install. The shower heads produce a nice firm flow of water in all positions, and the five foot long, hose make it easy to use. The quality of the material used for the key water diverter’s body is a fragile plastic, that is prone to cracking, and if I had been able to install the slide bar, it cloud easily fracture the unit by moving the bottom end of it.
I would only use this unit in a tub that is not frequently used, or as a quick temporary fix. The shower head can be used by itself, or the two heads could be used to replace existing heads and last good time.
Pros: Looks Great, Strong Water Pressure, Stylish
Cons: weak plastic body of water diverter, water diverter opening and slide bar can't fit
