A:  Hi Susan- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear of the difficulty and glad to help. We suggest to push in the Timer to stop the cycle, then turn the dial to Drain & Spin. Pull the dial out to Start the cycle. We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch!

A:  This washer does not spin the dirty water out after it washes. Don't use rinse and drain. It is a joke. After it washes and drains, push the knob in,open the lid. Turn the knob to spin, where the pointer is about one inch from the spin off. Close the lid and let it spin until it stops. Then wash it again and repeat same.

A:  Hi servando- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! We are happy to provide assistance. On newer top load washers, you must remove the shipping material just before sliding the washer into place. Do not remove the shipping material prior to sliding into place, since using the washer on a cart or dolly without it can cause the washer to be noisy and vibrate. Consult your Installation Instructions for removal of the shipping material at the following link: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/ad/ad4dbadd-a05a-4aa7-95cc-de0fcedb1c71.pdf - Also, Make sure the washer is level. The washer needs to be level and sitting on a good, solid floor. Refer to the Installation Instructions for proper leveling. Unbalanced loads can cause the washer to vibrate more. Stop the machine and redistribute the load. The more the legs are extended, the shakier the washer will be during operation. We hope these tips are helpful. If you need further assistance, contact us at GEAppliances.com. Keep in touch!

This washer does not meet my expectations. I have tried using it for a few months now. Luckily i still have my old washer which is a 30 year old Hotpoint and it is a far better washer. This washer does not spin after it finishes the wash phase and drains. The agitator speed is slow. It does not agitate fast enough to make suds. The drain time is excessive. This leaves dirty water in the clothes. Then it barely puts any water in it to rinse. It tears up the clothes by agitating without enough water, doing a dry rinse. In effect it has no rinse. Finally it drains and spins. "It spins ok." That is the only thing it does right (spins). Sometimes during washing, the tub will move instead of the agitator. It is noisy, squeaks a lot and water is slow to fill. If the lid is opened the clock keeps running and when the lid is closed again, the agitator goes through unnecessary movements before it starts again. Put a magnet on the door switch to see this. WARNING: The clock turned off does not stop agitator movement, only the door switch. The only way to use this washer is by manually operating it. I let it wash and drain then stopping the clock and turning the knob to spin. Then for the rinse, doing it all again.

                            Junk
Only had the washer less then a week, Before using it the first time i noticed the knobs seemed floppy and ready to fall off. One knob was for temperature settings (Cold / Warm / Hot) the cold lined up but when i turned the knob for warm or hot the dial was no where near to lining up. I washed my first load of clothes , Which was a small load and it did great. I washed 3 other small loads in the past few days and still, It did great. Today I washed a super load and it was clanking and clicking very loud as it agitated back and forth, I thought at any minute it was going to fall apart. I'm going to contact hotpoint and see if they can fix the problem and if not I'm going to have to return it.

With regard to the noises, please refer to page 12 of your Owner's Manual to see if what you are hearing sounds like what is described in the back of the book. If it is not, we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us! GE_Appliances

                              Rinsing on barely any water
I'm very disappointed with my brand new purchase since the washer uses barely any water for the rinsing cycle, so I have to stop it every time it filled up for the rinse to restart the rinse and add double amount of rinsing water. The GE tech came out and said sorry this is how it's designed to work but told me that everybody complains about the 'water-efficient' rinsing and that's why the upgraded model has a power rinse feature. I wasn't so lucky to get that feature and have to find a way now to drag the machine back to Home Depot to return it.

                              So Far So Good!
I've had the washer nearly two months and so far so good! It was one of the most reasonably priced machines which I needed! I'm the mother of two kids under 4 years old and this Spring/Summer has been a muddy mess and the machine has handled it great. The free delivery and installation was the best part of all!!!

Have yet to see another machine so quiet!
This machine has only basic features, but is very quiet and and has plenty of room for larger items, like blankets and comforters. Unlike many other new models, you can add to a load while it is in progress. It has a "heavy" or "light" setting for each type of cycle that determines how long it agitates, so you can control energy usage based upon how much you need, i.e, how dirty the laundry is. These are the main features we were concerned about. So far, we are very pleased.

                              works great but no buzzer
The washer works well and is quieter than I expected. It also has a full-size agitator and the water level is controlled manually. (My previous HE washer didn't have an agitator and I couldn't adjust the water level, so sometimes the clothes on top of the pile remained dry throughout the entire wash cycle). You can also open the lid after the cycle starts to add more clothes, fabric softener, etc. The only feature missing is a buzzer. The matching dryer works well, too (no buzzer, either) and both the washer and the dryer are under 26 inches deep, so they fit perfectly well inside a small laundry closet.
