Rated 5 out of 5 by from INEXPENSIVE, EASY TO USE, AND DOES THE JOB WELL. Was looking for an inexpensive replacement, and found this one. Was easy to install and works well. This model has a mechanical dial-type control, instead of the flat panel touch buttons. Our last dishwasher had the flat panel touch controls that failed only after 2 years. Apparently moisture gets in to the circuitry and causes it to fail. That is why we went with the "old style" mechanical dial control. This unit has 2 features that I find useful; there is a "Pre-Heat" option that heats the water before the wash cycle starts, and a simple switch to turn on or off the HEAT. If you just want to RINSE your dishes, just start the cycle and turn off HEAT. Low PRICE, but good VALUE.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheapest on the the market and still not worth it. This is certainly the choice of landlords. Not so much that of tenants. This machine is loud, inefficient, flimsy and does not do a good job cleaning. It will not dry plastic and leaves a residue on silverware over time that only elbow grease and comet will remove. We cannot run this in the evening b/c it drowns out the tv two rooms away. My dd says it sounds like music. It does, "We Will Rock You" is now the theme of our kitchen. I do not recommend this machine. Landlords, your tenants will thank you if you buy even one grade up.

This dishwasher is very loud and sometimes makes random extra loud, very startling noises when it changes to a different portion of its cycle. The top rack is terrible - the wires are too low to hold any dishes properly, so dishes fall down. The racks are poorly designed so this dishwasher holds only a small amount of dishes. Not enough room for large pots or bowls. Small bowls are nearly impossible to fit in here - they fall down on the top rack due to poor design of the little tiny wires that cannot hold anything up. Bottom level big square basket for utensils takes up too much room. No spray feature on top - only a cone that comes up from the bottom. The dishes come out wet. They need to go back to the drawing board on this model. Also the door is very light and flimsy. If at all possible, wait until you can get a better dishwasher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally.......Very happy! We found out the hard way that newer and more expensive is not necessarily the right way to go. We recently purchased and installed a feature-packed, energy star electronic control machine with 3 levels of water distribution and alternate locations for utencil basket paying over $450. We quickly returned it after realizing we had made a mistake. While it was good looking and pretty quiet, the wash cycle on regular settings took over 2 hours! How is that energy efficient? On top of that, even with heated dry turned on, the dishes were NEVER dry. Placing the utencil bin on the door meant that no long items like mixing spoons could be placed in it as they would interfere with the dish liquid compartment. Also, this machine was always beeping for one reason or another....very annoying. This replacement machine is perfect for us and we saved almost $200. In our case, simple was best. This machine is sleek looking and easy to clean. It is not obnoxiously loud; quieter than our old machine. Loading is different from our old machine because the tines are not single and straight but specifically placed and bent in an angled shape. It takes some getting used to. We love the manual lock lever so we can stop and open the machine at any time for any reason and it automatically restarts and continues when re-locked. The manual control dial is fine and you can see the cycles progress. The heated dry button toggles on/off......simple. There are no other buttons to lean against and accidently depress.....perfect

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I rarely right reviews, but we bought this dishwasher because it was electro/mechanical and I was tired of replacing dishwashers that had all digital control panels that quick working and cost more to replace than the dishwasher. However, this dishwasher was terrible. After running five different sets of dishes through the washer and having the silverware, plates, and bowls still feeling greasy, we punted and returned it to the store with great arm twisting and ordered another one. Key learning - order appliances at the store.... we had ordered on-line which made the return process more difficult.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems from Day 1 The unit doesn't drain. I have only had it 2 weeks and it hasn't worked from the day of installation. I have contacted GE, now I have to wait for a service technician. I hesitated going with a lower end model, but the unit I was replacing wasn't expensive and it worked like a champ. I was only replacing it due to rust and just wear and tear. I regret choosing this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk I have one of these in my apartment. It is junk. I'd rather hand wash my dishes than put them in this machine. The machine does not clean efficiently. It runs for an extremely LONG time, even on the light cycle. The dial is inaccurate as well. It seems to have the ability to be pulled out and pushed in, which stops the cycle. If you're going to buy a dishwasher, buy one that actually cleans your dishes, this one does not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simple design, Poor Results PROS: Economy Priced Dishwater. No bells or Whistles. Easy Install. Dial control rather than buttons. No electronics. CONS: Doesn't clean well. Residue on dishes after multiple wash cycles - even when using hot water, premium priced cleaner, and Jet Dry. I am not talking about unclean stew pots, these are simple white porcelain plates and bowls. Top Rack awkward and doesn't load easily or clean at all. OVERALL: Not worth it...I can hand clean better than this junk, so why bother? And Nancy, if you see this message, tell Quality Control to step it up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst dishwasher and service ever The first Hotpoint dishwasher I received had a leaky door. GE sent another dishwasher for me to install. The new one has a bent kick panel, makes grinding noises and smells like wet dog. I'm afraid to call back because they'll just make me install a third broken dishwasher. Why is there no warranty service from GE? Why do I have to keep installing dishwashers that never should have left the factory? I have learned my lesson about GE products and service.

I have had it for 3 months and I am replacing it with a REAL dishwasher. It does NOT clean tall glasses; stemware has to be laid flat; the only way to avoid re-doing dishes is by doing every load on the pots & pans setting. Dirty water and soap pools on bottoms of cups and bowls. There is no way to fill it like in the photo and have the center dishes come out clean - and I pre-rinse! Shame on the engineers of this dishwasher.

As some have said: * Very Noisy, loud clunks, unusual noise. * Runs a LONG while (over an hour). * Top rack is poorly designed, cannot put in taller glassware. Rack formation for small plates, etc., in the center of pointless and frustrating. * Leaving soap residue ONLY seen after having put water in glass and swishing around. * Dishes smell funny and dishwasher does not "smell fresh" after use. This model was installed in my apartment after previous dishwasher stopped working after years, which had been a better machine. Technically, everything APPEARS clean and am using recommended soap and rinse aid, but realized there was unseen soapy residue ONLY after putting water in glass and swishing around. There was an odd smell and taste. (I had been drinking soap and serving to others, before realizing this). ☹️ I have tried even re-rinsing after everything is dry, which hasn't helped, must have a problem rinsing top rack, but may be on bottom rack plates and such, too. I have told the manager who tells me how "cheap things are nowadays" and how she doesn't even bother using her (better) dishwasher. (How does that help me?) I asked if it were possible to have it replaced which she acted nonchalant about, but said she "would ask about". Otherwise I am stuck with something I didn't choose AND cannot use. As I have little counter space, I like being able to load dishes as I go along to clear space for other food preparation, having to wash other items by hand besides, anyway. (I have never experienced this with any other machines).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cleans dishes very well The purchase and installation was great. Since I'm selling my home I didn't look to spend a lot of money due to existing dishwasher breaking. The dishes look awesome, the only reason I gave it 4 stars is if you're looking for something quiet, this ISN'T a dishwasher for you, I run it when I go out or when I'll be in another room, never while watching TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted - a basic unit with manual... Exactly what I wanted - a basic unit with manual controls. This does the job well and fit into existing cutout space perfectly (30 yr old home). Having the team vent in the front of the door makes sense, as does having the unit sit forward of the counters and cabinets. Straightforward install for my plumbing contractor, and the color (bisque) matches other existing appliances. The delivery men were cordial and efficient. It sounds like a dishwasher. I was not concerned about the noise factor when I bought this. We know it is running, that's all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does Not Clean Dishes at All This dishwasher is a complete waste of money. You must wash the dishes by hand either before or after using it. It gets nothing clean. Mine is less than a year old. I chose it because the last one I bought had a fancy electronic panel that failed three times over a five year ownership period. So I chose the simplest dishwasher I could find, figuring it would not have electronics to fail. Big mistake. I don't know what to do... try to trade it in for something better. But it's not usable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Basics That We Wanted At A Good Price When our old dIshwasher died we went online to look for what was available. The old one had come with the house and was at least 17 years old. We wanted one without electronics.-just the basic knobs as there is far less to go wrong with it. Read the reviews of all the people who had the fancy ones that did not last and knew that this was the one for us. We ordered it and then went to a local Home Depot just to see what they had on the floor. The salesperson told us that you could not get one without all the electronics, but we told him we ordered one. Delivery was in a week, and the delivery men were really great! On time and very nice-highly recommend them. As far as noise, there is no more noise than our other one or the one we had in our previous house. (If it is too quiet, how do you know if it is working?) The racks have a different configuration from our other one, but the top rack is better at holding our coffee mugs than the old one. The little "V" racks could be a little higher to hold things at a better angle, but we will get used to how to best load it. Overall, we are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage This is the model my landlord uses, probably because it's very cheap. 1. It is controlled by a dial instead of buttons. None of the markings on the dial are accurate, so if you turn it to your desired cycle, it tries to wash without water. 2. It does not drain all of the dirty water. I MUST run the rinse cycle a second time and even then it still leaves bits of food on everything. 3. The top rack is useless. Everything washed on the top rack ends up with a film of either detergent or food that must be rinsed off by hand. So unless you want a machine that takes food off your dishes and spreads it around to other dishes and requires trial-and-error testing to figure out where each cycle starts, I highly recommend you find a different dishwasher. Maybe one with buttons because it's 2018.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst dishwasher ever I did not personally purchase this dishwasher, but I bought a home with this brand new never used dishwasher before. It's terrible. Doesn't even clean the simplest grime. I would put it on Craigslist but I can't in good fait say that it does what it's supposed to do. Spend a little more money and get a better dishwasher.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after a year This dishwasher stopped working after a little over a year. Although it sounds like it is running the dishwasher will not fill with water so it's useless. Conveniently, the warranty was only for 1 year. I am obviously not too happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic unit Works well, very basic unit, so far dishes come out clean and dry. Load and turn the dial to normal, that's it. Not many fancy buttons to deal with compare to other expensive dishwashers. Space inside the way you load dishes could be improved in future models.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont waste your money Does not clean the dishes at all. We might as well just hand wash them as we have to after we run them through this dishwasher everytime. The top rack spray arm is a joke because there isn't one. It quit working for about a week , sounded like it was stuck in drain cycle or something then it started working about a week later but it still does not clean the dishes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF CR@p!
