I've spent the last couple of months purchasing and reviewing various sized rope mouldings and decided on this product, one because of price but mainly because of its size (rope). As a result of the cut and the grain there are areas that have a fine fiber that could be lightly sanded but it was so minimal to me that I skipped it and went straight to the dye and top coating. In the photos you see the raw product. The 2nd photo is an in process of the rope being stained and sealed with a top coat. The last photo is a vision of where the rope will be attached to the front of the cabinet door in the recessed area. After this is installed, the last step will be to tone the cabinets to give a slighted darker finish and satin top coat.
