Great product and easy to work with. Hardwood makes the best picture frames especially if they are large (i.e. 40" X 24"). It took a stain and polyurethane finish perfectly. Looks nice framing wife's cross stitch, I'll include a photo.

I've made 5 frames from this moulding and find it to be excellent. Before finding this I was buying assembled wood frames from art stores. But those were always skirting the line on quality. With this moulding I am able to make my own clean miter cuts and assemble the frames perfectly, including hand staining and gold leaf. Occasionally I'll have to sand the inner bumps a bit so they don't splinter off, but it's ok considering the price and availability. I especially like the contours in the moulding profile. They lend themselves to selective custom staining, and even gold leafing. It's fun to watch the plain wood turn into a beautiful frame. I've had friends and galleries ask me how I make such lovely frames from this Home Depot moulding. I created a DIY youtube video on the process. You can find it by searching for:

Good value but quality control issues
Ultimately, the four pieces I purchased were sufficient to make my planned number of picture frames . That said, two of the four pieces were bowed towards the ends, rendering those portions useless. I used those end pieces as tests for staining.
Final product is beautiful, QC issues notwithstanding. Took stain like a charm. Natural oak can't be beat. I am planning to purchase more but will return any warped pieces if the bowing covers more than a foot of the moulding.

Have ordered a couple dozen of these the past two years and the quality is very good. The oak is clean and defect free (no splinters, cracks or sawblade marks), and do not need sanding prior to finishing.
