Q:Can this be used on UNfinished ply wood?
by|Dec 21, 2022

Answer This Question
A:Â Restor-A-Finish is meant to be applied on existing wood finishes. If used on unfinished ply wood, it will just oil and stain the wood, but not finish it.

Q:My wood front door was faded. I used Cherry restor-a-finish (my door is dark with tinge of red coloring). Anyway most the door looks great EXCEPT for 5inch line that will not take the stain. Very noticeable. Suggestions on how to fix this??

Saved my antique sewing cabinet
I was given a 100 year old sewing machine in the original cabinet. The cabinet was in good shape (veneer was smooth) but it looked like bleach or something had been splashed on the legs. This product was recommended to try on it when I went into my local Home Depot. It was AMAZING. The cabinet looks like new (well almost, considering it was from 1926). It was SO fast and easy to use - just wipe it on. I used a Q-tip to get into the grooves and cracks. No strong odor. RECOMMEND!

Does the job
I did a few projects. I used wood color markers first and then applied the Howard's product. I'm very happy with the results. The furniture looks so much better now.

I’m so impressed!
This product far exceeded my expectations. I used it on my antique vanity that I regrettably, I haven’t been taking care of for the last eight years. I was at a loss for how to restore my vanity to its former glory, and I am so happy I stumbled across Howard’s products. I just followed the instructions on the bottle and I’m elated with the results

Very pleased with the way my G-Grandpa’s desk turned out!
Easy to use, quick and inexpensive! I used the fine steel wool and Feed & Wax afterward. Huge return for small effort. Will definitely use this product again.

A miracle product. Highly recommend.
We found a hundred year old table in my grandmother’s basement and I loved the worn legs/edges, did not want to strip or sand it and lose the distressed look of it or potentially damage the table further (one of the cross braces has a significant crack). I just wiped the table clean and applied a coat of Restor-a-finish. It took an hour or so because of the details on the legs but dried very quickly and came out even more beautiful than I thought it would. My family is amazed too. Highly recommend this product!

This is miracle stuff. I had some scuffs and worn spots on my cabinets that were exposed to water in both the bathroom and my kitchen. Just applied with a dry cloth and my cabinets looked brand new. The color is sheer enough to do the job. FYI, I used the Oak color and just purchased the Mahogany for my scratched dresser. I am sure this shade will do the trick too.
Howard Feed-N-Wax 16 oz. wood polish & conditionerHoward Feed-N-Wax 16 oz. wood polish & conditioner is ideal for enhancing the natural depth of grain while providing added protection and luster to furniture, antiques, and cabinets. Feed-N-Wax helps introduce conditioning oils that "feed" the wood while providing a protective coating of beeswax and carnauba wax. Feed-N-Wax can be used on finished or unfinished wood to help preserve and keep the wood from drying out, fading, or even cracking. Feed-N-Wax should be used whenever wood starts to look faded or dry, usually every month or so. Our original blend of beeswax, Brazilian carnauba wax, mineral oil, and orange oil is the perfect product to enhance the natural beauty and depth of grain in all woods, finished and unfinished. Feed-N-Wax was developed as the best follow-up to restore-a-finish for maintaining the newly restored finish. Contains no silicone or linseed oils. Not intended for food-prep surfaces. For food-prep surfaces use Howard Butcher Block conditioner or Cutting Board Oil.View Full Product Description
