Asked by: Rorie
We used it with the Hunter Newsome and it works well. I suggest calling Hunter directly as they were extremely helpful.

What is the difference between the the 99373 switch and the 99375 switch? If they are identical in features and function, why offer two models? If they are identical in features and function, why the price difference?
Asked by: confused
I ordered both models and found no difference between them. Obviously, I kept the less expensive one and returned the 99375.

Indoor White Universal Ceiling Fan Wall Switch is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! This wall control completely solved my problem! I notice some people have commented that it’s ridiculous to have batteries when it can be wired in your electrical box. Depends on your situation. I bought a rental home with bedrooms without ceiling lights. Instead, there is a switch near each door that powers an outlet to turn on a table lamp when you enter. I wanted a ceiling fan with a light in each room but there was virtually no attic access and trying to run wires from the fan down a wall to install a fan control was impossible without tons of drywall patching. It took a skilled electrician just to install fan-rated boxes in the ceiling and fish wires to power the fans. So I had my electrician replace the switches that powered the outlets in the bedrooms with these wall remotes, no new electrical boxes needed. There is a push button on this wall remote that can be wired like a switch, so he wired that on/off button to control the outlet in each room instead. And like a hand remote, the battery-powered portion of the wall remote connects with the fan/light without wires. Now when you enter a bedroom you can not only press a button to turn on a table lamp like before but you also have the option of pressing other buttons to turn on the fan’s light or fan itself, all without the horrible job of trying to run wires to install a wall fan control. So, depending on your application, this wall remote can save you the cost of wiring, drywall repairs, lost remotes, etc. I suspect the batteries will last years like they do in hand remotes and tenants won’t even know there are batteries in the wall switch to mess with. LOVE this product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The wall unit was intended to replace a defective hunter... The wall unit was intended to replace a defective hunter wall control unit. However, it was incompatible with the current control unit in the fan. That was not disclosed--it was described as a "universal" control. Service from the distributor was preposterous; it was unbelievably bad. The Hunter distributor sent to Home Depot a rag. Literally a rag, in a plastic bag. Since it didn't feel right, Home Depot opened it in front of me. Home Depot called the distributor to complain, and was treated so badly the Home Depot agent got angry. The Hunter distributor refused a refund, but said she would send a second unit for free. Home Depot, to its credit, did all it could to correct this situation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from convenient wall control; augments original remote! We wanted to add wall-control to our handheld remote-controlled Hunter fan. This product comes with a receiver that could be installed, but for fans already containing one, you just have to pair the wall control to the receiver already in the fan - and then both the remote and the wall control can be used. I don't mind that it takes batteries as another reviewer pointed out - the remote control uses batteries as well and I suspect it will take years before the batteries need replacing in either control. It is worth noting that replacing the batteries will require removing the face plate and the screws mounting the switch to the box, but it does not require turning the power off at the circuit breaker. It would be nice if the control came with instructions for pairing, but I was able to hunt around on the web to find what I needed. It didn't seem to pair until I removed and reinstalled the batteries. Now that it's done, I'm very happy with the function: thrilled that both the handheld remote and the wall control can be used, and we didn't have to drag out the ladder to revisit the fan and fear of heights to complete the project.

Who wires up a switch to draw power from their house then requires batteries for it to operate. What is even more ridiculous is that the switch and cover plate must be removed from the wall electrical box to replace the AAA batteries. We actually laughed at this and returned the switch. This was not evident from the product description or pictures. The product description states the switch is wired or wireless. It should state wired and wireless. The product description should clearly identify that batteries must be installed for the switch to operate. We were not able to rotate the picture 360 ° to see the battery compartment in the back of the switch.
