Questions & Answers

How much does this weigh?

Asked by: NikkiHeat
Shipping weight is listed at 20 lb. The fan is probably 1 or two lbs. less than that, with most of the weight in the base.

The fan is very quiet, and moves a lot of air, even on the lowest speed. The weighted base makes the unit very stable and the oscillation motion is very smooth. Only two things about the product are disappointing. One is the power cord ends up being very short when the fan is raised to a realistic height. The cord is 6 ft. long, but most of that is used up from the motor to the clip near the bottom of the pedestal, so only about two feet remain to make it to an outlet. I have to use an extension cord to place the fan where I want and still reach an outlet nearby. Also, the fan blades were slightly damaged in packing. When I mounted them onto the motor shaft, one blade was swiping the rear guard. I had to get pliers to align the blade to the rest of them so it would not vibrate when rotating. I did get them aligned since I do not notice any vibration when it is on. All told, a nice product, but disappointing the lapses in quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing We purchased this fan after having owned a similar-looking Hunter table fan for years. The table fan continues to work great for us. This pedestal fan, however, is not as good a product. The pedestal fan does look very nice in our guest bedroom. And it does produce good airflow. But it is much loader than a comparable Lasko fan we have in our master bedroom. Even on the lowest setting, it is difficult to sleep with this fan on--and I generally like having some white noise in a bedroom. The fan noise isn't constant either--it periodically gets loader for short periods of time. It reminds me of an airplane propeller. I don't know if this may be a defect with the fan--I do wonder about the quality of construction with this fan having been manufactured in China. The fan pole can be height adjusted, but there is no mechanism for adjusting the angle of the fan itself (up or down). The fan can be set to oscillate from side-to-side. With few reviews of this product to be found online, we decided to make this purchase largely based on our positive experience with other Hunter fan products in the past. It's not necessarily a bad fan--I think it would work great in a garage work space where noise is not so much a concern. But given the premium price of this product (and the Hunter name), I was expecting better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not last.... We loved this fan when we bought it last summer and used it every day. However, a week ago it just stopped working even though the motor wasn't overheated. We took it apart, replaced the switch and the capacitor but still no luck. We will buy a cheaper fan this time, this product just didn't last......and we usually have great luck with Hunter products.

I had purchased a hunter fan that looked like this a few years ago and love it. This one sounded even better. Not made of plastic. The plastic one cost $40., this one was about $90. It's nice looking, but is loud (even on low), doesn't come with a remote control and is very difficult to remove the fan cover (for cleaning). The plastic one is not loud, has a remote control and comes apart with ease. Why they stopped making that one is beyond me. It's far superior and less expensive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fan!!! Great fan... I purchased the other color, but it's the same fan.. It blows a lot of air and looks very retro and old school. I saw the other review about the remote, but not sure if it would fit the style and looks of this fan... Maybe on the other plastic units... Love the Old School design/features! Great product!

I bought this fan because it gets really hot in our sunroom, and while we have 2 ceiling fans in our sunroom, sometimes that just isn't enough to keep the sunroom cool on hot summer days, and that's where this fan comes in. It is powerful, with large, metal blades, and a high-velocity fan motor, and even on the lowest speed setting, it still moves a good amount of air. It is, however, noisy, like any fan with metal blades. I don't like that you can't tilt the fan head up to direct air where you need it, but to make up for that, the fan does oscillate, providing good coverage for an average-sized room. However, this fan isn't very portable, as it weighs about 20 lbs., and is VERY heavy-duty. Also, if you don't tighten the height adjustment knob, or if you let the height adjustment pole drop down too fast, it WILL pinch your fingers, and you WILL get a blister, so be careful when adjusting or moving the fan from room to room or place to place. Other than that, this fan is awesome, and is a great air mover if you're looking to cool down a larger room! Highly recommended!
