Hi Sue ok Hunter states you can install a handheld remote, when I got mine said you can use as handheld, but I did not do that I wall mounted mine, as did not see how you would want it as hand held. So hunter said you can use other remotes but I wonder as fan has dc motor and six speeds that remotes only control 3 speed fans. So would call Hunter and see what remotes will work call cust service at Hunter 1-877-527-0313, Best to check so you have all the right parts. good luck but do check out with Hunter so you dont waste a lot of time and money on stuff that will not work

KC, The distance from the ceiling to the lower part of the blade is 14.25 inches and then the light is below that. You can get different down rods at HD if you need. I looked at them because I was putting it on a high ceiling and was thinking of dropping it down further, but ended up using what came with it. You can go shorter if you want, but I'm not sure just how much because you have to have room to do the wiring and then move the cover/collar up to cover the wiring. I do believe that the end of the down rod that screws into the fan motor might be pipe thread, you would want to check, but you might be able to cut it shorter and re-thread it if you need shorter or cut the pin end and re-drill for the pin. If you look at the installation instructions on HD's site it will give you an idea how much room you need to do the wiring. look at the picture I attached and you can see the length of the rod and that you could shorten it a fair amount if needed. Again, if you shorten it, consider room needed for wiring. The wires are pretty long and are cut for what you need. If you had a way to hold the motor up to do the wiring then you just need enough room to get the socket slid into place and them move the collar. Hope this answers your questions.

How do you reverse the direction of this style fan on the remote?

Asked by Chad February 28, 2020

Answers

Chad, I know your frustrations, the instructions for the remote are somewhat lacking, which is surprising considering that I thought the installation instructions were great. Anyways, start with everything powered up and the fan motor off. Now push the fan symbol button and hold until you hear a beep (several seconds as I remember) and then let up on the button. Push the button briefly and it should startup in the opposite direction. The remote/fan has a lot of operations, but the instructions don't cover how to use them very well, so here's what we did. Hold a button for several seconds and if it beeps then we knew a function had been changed/accessed and then went from there. Sometimes you held two buttons to get to that point. Experiment is all I can advise if you need something else or are curious about other functions.

(What's this)
I have slowly but steadily been replacing the ceiling fans (25 plus years old) in my home due to old age and ridicule from my decor conscious kids. The Hunter Warrant 60" Integrated LED Noble Bronze Ceiling Fan is the perfect upgrade for the family room remodel\renovation. The holidays, my laziness and a minor volleyball injury have contributed to my lack of progress including the installation of the fan so I can only offer a partial review. This premium quality fan is striking to look at and appears to be very well built. It is shipped in a fairly sturdy carton that held up to the rigors of shipping fairly well (nothing damaged on the inside). The dark bronze finish looks striking with the quality of the paint being first rate. The fan blades have a grey-ish brown weathered barnwood look on one side and a heavily grained rich light brown pecan color on the reverse side. Can't offer much regarding the light but it has been my experience that LED fan lights leave quite a bit to be desired when compared to the traditional 3 and 4 light 60 watt incandescent fixtures I have been replacing. The wireless transmitter is built in to the housing so you do not have to wire it up nor squeeze it into the fan hanger mounting assembly. Perhaps the coolest feature of the Hunter Warrant 60" fan is the fan/light control switch that is provided. It replaces your old traditional on/off toggle with a multi-function push button switch that controls the light and fan speeds (no more hunting around for a misplaced fan remote). Hunter offers a limited lifetime warranty (whatever that means) but I'm not too concerned because I installed the Hunter fan it is replacing in 1988!

This fan really looks nice once you get it installed. The instructions for putting it together is pretty good for a do it yourself person. The mount set up for the ceiling is nice. You put a socket type piece up, put the rod assembly onto the motor with the appropriate covers, lift the motor up and slip the ball assembly into the socket and it's hanging nicely so you can wire it up. Once you slide the collar up and attach, the setup is locked in. I then put the blades on and then the final light. I did this standing on a ladder without any problems. The light cold be a little brighter, but gets the job done. Now for the reasons I would not give 5 stars. The instructions for the light wiring could be explained a little better, like why you might want to hookup the blue wire. The light only works from the control if you don't hook up the blue wire, but will work from a separate switch if you want to use it from a different location than where the controller is. The design of the controller is to wire it in with the power that goes to the fan and then it can act as a power switch to the fan/light. It is a radio remote control so it doesn't have to be wired in, but would look out of place if you don't mount it in the wall. The control takes two AAA batteries that will need to be changed once in a while. Here's the catch.....if you have it mounted in the wall with the face plate,,,you have to remove the face plate AND the control from the wall to access the back to change the batteries, that's going to be a pain for some people, not the best design in that regards. The instructions for the controller are also a little lacking in my opinion. We did get thinks figured out by trial and error. Apparently there was a different designer for the remote control part and instructions for it than the rest of the fan and manual. Outside of the remote set up, I think it's an excellent fan setup. It will turn pretty fast on high, so it moves a lot of air.

The fan is beautiful. I have zero doubt it will look amazing in most homes. I found that Hunters fans that I’ve owned in the past are always well made, look great, and run quiet. My observations during and after the install: • Install is very straight-forward. Plan on 60 minutes for the entire job. Putting these fans together takes time so you don’t damage or over torque anything. • The directions were clear and the parts I needed during the install were in the box and undamaged. • The fan has 6 speed settings and each setting is very quiet, in fact the lower settings have no sound whatsoever that I could detect. • This comes with a wall control switch that you can install on the wall for a clean look and all the control options you need. The switch also has batteries so in theory you can use it as a remote but you will be better off just installing in correctly since it’s really not a traditional remote. • The fan moves serious amounts of air. We’ve been running it on the lowest setting and the air movement is still very good. • You have two blade colors to choose from. Both blade color options look nice and complement the fan body. • The glass fixture is unique and looks nice on the fan. It’s an integrated LED and you can dim up and down as needed. • The ‘rivet’ hardware looks nice on the fan and looks much better than look at the head of a screw. • I really enjoy the looks of the fan. To me it works perfect in our living room and has a modern appearance. • You do get an audible beep when you turn on the ceiling fan. For some reason it really bothers some people. It doesn’t bother me. Half the fans in my house have a beep so I’ve gotten used to it. This fan is a good choice. I’ve enjoyed the looks, the quiet motor, and of course good air movement. I recommend.

Well took a few weeks to get but well worth the wait. Taking it out of the box are lots of parts and takes a little while to but together but was pretty easy. So used the 6" down rod but has a 3" is wanted. Note if you are only using the provided control you will not use the blue wire on fan that is only for 2 switch control (1 for fan and 1 for light). Parts go together pretty quick but lot of screws, on blades don't tighten till all 3 screw are started to make it easier as all must be correctly aligned. Other than that all was easy to install. Not take some time to learn the wall remote as is a little different and not like others but once you learn is pretty nice. But Hunter did a great job on design and is a great fan that puts out lots of light and great air movement. I am now enjoying mine and hope you will also

(What's this)
A modern fixture with a rustic flavor that gets the job done featuring a wall mounted control that Nasa might have designed. Assembly is a little more complex than the average ceiling fan but as long as you pay attention to which of the many screws go where, you'll be fine. Attaching the blades to the motor paddles was the most difficult part since it seems to require 3 hands to accomplish. The black round button-like looking things are the female threaded nuts to accept the screws (18 in total) fit loosely into the bottom of the blades to accept the screws that pass through the motor paddles and the blades themselves. This means you have hold the black "buttons" in place while you hold the blades at the correct angle while you also insert the screws to tie it all together. I found doing this, especially up on a ladder, rather impossible. But I devised a solution that actually worked! I placed a wide piece of masking tape to hold in place the black nuts on each blade and alas I was then able to hold the blade and insert the screws successfully. I would patent this idea if I knew how. In any event I exchanged the six inch included down rod with a 12" version to accommodate the ten foot ceiling and then replaced the wall switch with the provided wall control. Turned the circuit breaker back on and nothing happened for about ten seconds... suddenly the fan came to life, did a little dance back and forth and then just sat there waiting for further input from mission control. Each press of the down or up arrows for the 6 speed settings (made possible by a DC motor) and the Led light array resulted in a "beep" and subtle response from the fan. The wall control is admittedly a bit of a learning curve so it might take a while to appreciate it, but trust me you, you eventually will. Having said that, however, appreciation of the wind power this thing generates will be immediate.

One of the main reasons we ordered this fan was because it had a remote control. A remote control is NOT a remote wall switch! A true remote can be operated from various locations, within a reasonable distance of the unit.

The fan seems glitchy. It will not start smoothly. The fan goes forward and backward a bit until it finally starts. The lowest of the 6 speeds will blow you out of the room. I think there may be issues with this one. The lighting does not shine upward at all, so vaulted ceilings stay dark. If I could return it I would. Love the look, but I think I may have a bad one.
