Hey Kevin, No damage will come from from going down to 2 in/lbs. It is not meant to be used outside of the normal range due to calibration, not because damage will occur. Torque products are calibrated to the upper 80% of the range but it doesn't mean it isn't possible to go lower, there is just no certification of accuracy in the bottom 20%. I wouldn't recommend going over 40 in/lbs though. Thanks!

I had the same problem, what I did was just turn it all the way down and then count my way up to where I wanted to be, I also tested mine against The ratchet style to be sure it was set properly. I don’t remember what the lowest number is but I’m pretty sure it tells you in the book what it will go down to.

Rotating it all the way to its minimum, the knob is on #2. Is that 0 + 2 or is it 5 + 2?

I found that the driver was excellent for torqueing small screws. The tip hold 1/4 bits perfectly and does not allow the bit to fall out of the driver.

Excellent for firearm use. For use on scopes, rails, takedown screws and grips. It would have been nice to have been supplied with some basic bits. Otherwise it works as it should and operation is straight forward.

Works Great.
This torque wrench (screwdriver actually) takes a little getting used to, but once understood, it works great. First, the bit holder works incredibly well. You have to pull out the collar to insert the bit and then the collar holds the bit very strongly in place within the driver. Next, this driver comes certified! I am highly impressed by that. Most certified torque wrenches will set you back a bit more than this driver runs. Regarding the specifications, there is a bit of confusion here. The HD website lists the accuracy as 4%, however the calibration certificate states 6%. The HD website states a torque range of 2-40 in-lbs, however the calibartion certificate is only valid between 8-40 in-lbs and only in the clockwise direction. That's important, this screwdriver cannot be used to torque left hand bolts or to determine bolt removal torque. Regarding the instructions and the torque setting, its a touch confusing the first time through. The instructions are not wrong, but are not perfectly crystal clear either. The white hash marked scale near the window are every 5 in-lbs. The raised plastic 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 on the collar are 1 in-lb. Each full rotation of the collar changes the torque setting by 5 in-lbs. The faint tick marks on the plastic collar are 0.2 in-lbs each. This is what the instructions are referrign to when they mention that the collar is in increments of 0.2 in-lbs. Its a little confusing the first time reading it through. Hopefully this helped to clear it all up though. Overall I am pleased with the quality of this tool and would definitely recommend it.

Very simple and easy to use.
This thing is almost as precise as my gunmithing screwdriver. The dial is very easy to use if you READ THE DIRECTIONS like you're supposed to. In one of the pictures below, I set it to 22 lbs. as an example. You add the number on the top dial with the read-out in the window and that's all there is to it (so if the top is 4 and the bottom is 15, you're at 19). You can increase or decrease in .2 pound increments. You can also use the driver in the reverse direction (though I'm not sure if its advertised to do so/don't take my word for it). The lowest setting is at 2 pounds and goes up to 40. Now, the advertised +/-6% accuracy between 8-40lbs. isn't bad at all. At 8 pounds, this is a range of 7.52-8.48 in. lbs., and at 40 it comes out to be 37.6-42.4. However, this depends on how quick you're rotating the driver, how far past the click you go, what material is being fastened to and its finish, etc. I have yet to see a torque driver that has gives a perfect amount right to the tenth of an inch; it just won't happen. I love how there is a locking bit holder which prevents the bit from coming off and getting lost. Assuming the bit is a locking one, it won't come loose on you. Now, even though this driver comes with a neat little box to store it in, the locking system on the box is a complete failure. There is a tab, but no place to insert it at. So you press it into a slight divot in the plastic and hope it doesn't pop open on you when you least expect it. This definitely needs to be reworked. But the tool itself? Perfect! -And you can't go wrong with a lifetime guarantee!
