Can this cut some small branches like fig trees

Asked by: Andrea
It can, but that might be overkill. Hand pruner or lopper would work best. The Fiskars brand for those are awesome!

Can this blade be sharpened?
Asked by: Curious1
According to the manual it can be sharpened. I have had saws like this before and sharpening the blade is easy but once the teeth start to break or wear down completely it's better to just buy another one as it's only a few dollars and the sharpening kit would run you more than the cost of just buying a new one.

The handle would be better if there was some type of soft grip on it but I like the wood finish aesthetically. Good price for a decent saw if you're not doing anything too work intensive.

The short length is nice for storage but can make sawing laborious. A longer saw would be better if you intend to make many cuts by hand.

FYI, I bought this as a "burner" saw for cutting up carpet covered sections of "cat trees" containing staples. I don't expect long life for this saw when being used for that, but it works well for that purpose. The short length is a bit of a pain because you have to watch how far you go on the backstroke; you run the risk of buckling the saw on the forward stroke if you pull back too far. However, I think it will be useful when trimming tree branches and such, especially in wooded areas where you don't have a lot of room to move around. At its current price it's worth having for those jobs where you don't want to risk damaging your "good" panel saws. The tote is nowhere near ergonomic. Suggest you wear gloves when using.

We used it to trim up the trunk and branches on our Christmas tree and on little projects around the house. Would I use this saw to cut up a bunch of 2x4s? No. Get a table saw. Is it the only saw you'll need at your house....that is a definite NO! However, it is a great and inexpensive saw to have in your collection.

I would recommend a table saw for large thick pieces. I tried cutting 1x4 and 2x4 and it takes forever. It did cut it but would have been faster with a mechanical tool.

If you’ll no beusung a handsaw constantly it’s good for the small jobs. If you’ll be using this daily then invest in something higher quality. But for me, it worked great.
