This was the best floor scraper with a beveled blade I found for uneven old floors. I bought one but did not get any extra blades. Now Home Depot does not sell the tool. They have a Hyde with a straight blade but that is useless on an old floor. I am not happy. Works good for almost a full floor, a hidden nail took out the blade and Home Depot quit selling them. I bought it early this year. It would meet my expectations if I could find a new blade.

Every once in awhile I come across a product and think “I wish I had bought this years ago”. Guess what? I wish I had bought this scraper years ago. I had my doubts but, it really does scrape layers of paint away to reveal the bare wood. I used it to scrape a window frame. It’s a nice way to avoid the chemicals of stripping or the dust of sanding.

If you have any project that involves removing paint from wood, get yourself a carbide scraper. I am stripping paint off of two enormous antique doors. I've used this tool for about 20 hours. The difference between this and anything less is stark. It's sharp, it stays sharp, and it's perfectly ergonomically designed to allow you to put the most body weight into each stroke. The handle is so well made that I only got one blister on my hand from about 20 hours of working with it. Amazing.

When we needed to repaint our front door and trim, my wife asked me to change it from dark blue to a cherry red. I sanded and primed it and in the end it required three coats of finish paint. Unfortunately, after over 50 years of being painted and repainting the door was now too tight to close well. This carbide scraper has a good, sharp blade and really came to the rescue. As shown in the attached pictures, I was easily able to remove five decades worth of paint down to the wood, and without nicking the wood itself. I was also able to remove the knob handle of the scraper so that I could use it on the hinged edge of the door and adjacent trim without removing the door. Note that this scraper works by pulling rather than pushing it. This is a very good tool... and our door now closes easily.

      High Quality Carbide Scraper
I have used many Husky tools in the past, and they all have been high quality tools; this scraper is no exception. This is a great product and very well made, both in material and design. The carbide blade lasts and lasts and is still usefully sharp after many hours of scraping old paint off my back deck. The scraper removes paint quickly and does not create a dusty mess like an electric sander. A single Phillips screw attaches the blade securely to the handle. There is no movement of the blade even when you lean on it. The pull knob and the handle have soft and comfortable grips. The long handle gives you good leverage when scraping. This high quality carbide scraper is a great tool to add to your work shop. One option I wish it had was a cover to keep the blade clean and sharp while not in use. The handle has a nice balance and grip for a manual scraper, this is first class.

Lots of house prep to do
I have a lot of house prep to do before the house can be painted. This scraper is a lot easier than a putty knife and does a much better job of taking off the peeling paint. California's drought is over after 200% of normal rainfall. But all that rain with the high winds that came with the rain and the splattering off the driveway really did a job on my garage door. As you can see, the paint on the bottom of the door is blistering and peeling. This scraper is taking the loose paint off so it can be sanded and painted.

      Nice and sharp! Handy knob.
The Husky 2.5" carbide scraped is the quality tool I expect from Husky. The aluminum body is nice and light, the soft grip is comfortable, and this scraper comes with a soft knob for added leverage. The packaging says the blade is "camber ground double edge" and I don't know what that means other than it's nice and sharp. Loop on the back is nice to attach to the pegboard. Made in China and guaranteed forever.

      The professional real deal
I have used light weight paint scrapers until now. Hopefully never again. After using this scraper I realize that I have been putting in four or five times the effort to get the same results this scraper gets in the first or second pass. The handle is ergonometrically designed and engineered to allow the user to control the device accurately. The handle is about a foot long and has a knob on the top back to bring extra pressure to bear when the going gets a little tough. The part I like best is the cambered carbide cutting blade. The curve of the blade is engineered to take the old paint away from the surface without marring the surface itself. Additionally, that blade has another side so it can be reversed and is replaceable should it wear out. This is going to be my go to paint scraper from now on.

The right tool for the job.
This is definitely the right tool for the job when it comes to scraping paint from trim or siding. I have been slowly picking away at removing the old paint from my trim and I wish I would have gotten this tool sooner. It would have saved me a lot of time. In about half an hour, I was able to clear about 60 years of paint from a large area of my trim without having to use harsh chemicals or sanding. Don’t misunderstand the situation, this tool does not do the work for you (the scraping motion is labor intensive) but this tool is better than many other options. The only drawback I ran across is the carbide blade does wear out with use (as is to be somewhat expected) and I inadvertently caught a nail with the blade which put a nick in it.

      No replacement blades!
The Husky 2.5in. paint scraper is a good tool but became useless without replacement blades. What is the point of a "Lifetime guarantee" if a normal use replacement part is unavailable? In my 20+ years of buying H.D. products, i have run into these problems too often. Part # (Husky SKU 471 234).

Works excellent. I have a couple, but on this particular one the blade cracked in the first 15 minutes of scraping. Maybe a dud because I have not had any issue with my other ones. Had to buy another blade.

Its a decent scraper...nothing too awesome. I use it with another scraper that is basically a flat blade. This design helps remove loose stuff but isnt horribly aggressive. The carbide blade seem like they might not be carbide. Dull very quickly.

I really like this scraper. It has handled every job I used it for. It easily removes old paint from wood but you must be careful and not apply too much pressure to it while scraping or it will take off more than you need. The scraper has a good weight to it and it's small enough that you can put it in a work pouch. I like the knob on the top front of it because it allows me more control and the ability to apply more force if necessary. I received this scraper in exchange for an honest review, which I have provided. I can honestly recommend this scraper.
