Questions & Answers

can this wrench be used to break lug nuts

can this wrench be used to break lug nuts
Asked by: don
Yes, absolutely. I recently replaced my lug nuts and they wouldn't budge with the standard tire iron. So I gave this a try and they came off like magic. Very little effort. Plus with the torque setting I could perfectly set the required amount of torque to the lug nuts. I'm thinking of buying for my other car as well and keeping them in the cars.

Will this wrench torque both right hand (CW) and left hand (CCW) threaded fasteners?

Asked by: JD
Even though Husky Tools state in their reply not to use it in CCW direction, no where in the instructions is it stated not to

50-250 ft. lbs. 1/2 in. Drive Torque Wrench is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 217.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from More of a HD listing Review HD.. My Store.. Dickson City, Pa showed 2 of these in stock and 2 Model H2DTW .. I'm not a usual Retail Price buyer but I needed to buy something with the 250 lb capacity and being the Model H2DTW was showing in stock.. And being U.S. Made I decided to get one the next morning .. at full price and be on time for my day.. Low and behold you have only these gathering dust.. I grab a associate and ask for the U.S. Model , show him on my phone and guess what ? Only 2 of these Chinese wrenches available.. Ends up your advertising 2 different Models BUT with the same Inventory Number.. I'm still ticked off that I feel the old bait and switch was pulled but I was pressed for time and ended up having little choice but to buy this at Retail.. Just saying if I knew this was a China not American made version I would of kept looking because it's not worth Retail.. except in a bind .. where your advertising put me.. have to look a bit closer at your site from now on.. BTW it's OK.. but not the same

I just received this as a damaged replacement of my older Husky Torque Wrench that finally quit. It had the circular dial on the backside to change directions and it finally stripped itself out. I thought the two would be similar but I did notice right off the bat, the increments are different. My old Husky used increments of 1, and took a lot more twists to get it to my desired setting. The new one uses increments of 2, so you can't really dial in any numerically "odd" numbers. Only even settings. So, if I wanted 217 ft-lbs, I couldn't, and used 218 ft-lbs (or 216). Pretty minor, but odd that they changed it. I do like the lever style reversal vs. the round dial. Feels nice and solid engagement. Used it right out of the box to finish up a car repair and the clicking sound was nice and solid. Very easy warranty replacement too. Walked in, said it was broken, got new one for direct change and I'm out the door. No need to look up old order or sign anything. Thanks!

It was easy to set and use. However it failed after about 15 years of casual use. Home Depot honored the warranty even though the wrench appearance had changed over the years. I liked that the earlier model was just a bit shorter and fit more easily into the tool chest. But that is fairly minor inconvenience which is more than offset by the warranty and Home Depot (Blaine, Minnesota) customer service..

Needed it to tighten my hub assemblies on my truck. Worked flawlessly. Liked how you adjust the tension. Was concerned it would pop out of the settings. Also its to early to tell if the wrench will hold up, I suspect it will because of how i t is built. Would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this one and a 1/2” after being fed up with cheap HF tools. HUSKY also provides a lifetime warr which is better than most everyone else, and so far I’ve been very happy with their tool line.

Comes in a basic plastic case. Includes a calibration certificate with values at 50, 100, and 150 lbs. Mine was less than 2% off. The locking torque setting is nice: keeps the setting from being changed accidentally.

Long handle made it easy to tighten it to 175lbs. I've tried shorter wrenches when doing suspension work and it's hard to pull that much weight laying on your back on the garage floor. This one made it a snap.

I liked the pull down collar when setting the proper torque and felt confident of the accuracy it provided while repairing my vehicle.
