It says it's dual action sander. Is it really and dual action sander or is it random orbital.

Asked by: Bodyguy
Thi sis a random action sander. It is not true dual action as DA have always had. It does not lock up for rotary motion only. I tool that locks up and has an unlocked orbital function, is a true DA sander.

Why would my local home depot sell a 6 inch vinyl pad Sanders and only sell hook and loop sandpaper?

They make a conversion pad to change to hook and loop paper, home depot does not carry that either!

So what is the dual action part of this sander im assuming dual still means 2 so....

Asked by: Cbenn
Think of it like the pedals on a bicycle. They go around with the crank. That is one action then the pedals can spin freely so they don't shoot your feet off. That is the second action. The sanding disk does not spin like a grinder once you apply pressure

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low vibration and efficient "motor". Low vibration during use. I have had budget d/a sanders before, that you could barely hold them still, or even hold them at all when running above half speed. This one was pretty smooth all the way up to full speed, which is too fast anyway. The paper begins to clog up quicker with no real benefit in performance. It was comfortable to use, with much lower vibration than previously owned budget sanders. The motor is also extremely efficient I found on the first use. Most previous budget sanders I've owned, have run out of compressor air within 5-10 minutes of use, and I would have to stop working to let the compressor catch up. With this sander I was able to operate for a half hour, when I decided to take a break. The compressor ran for about 5 minutes or less, before it shut off. Barring any unforeseen future wear that will change my perception, I call this a VERY good product for the price! The only drawback I could possibly see is a slightly awkward hand position while in use, but I can get used to that. It's not a Hutchins, but for $200 less I am fine with that.

The display model was in fact a DA, but when I got it home and opened the box, I found it did not have the dual action feature. So I returned it. It is what I would call a simple oscillating sander. I told the "self proclaimed" department manager about this and that to be right, the display should be changed out to match the actual product. His response was that he could do nothing about that since that was controlled by the corporate office. I think this is actually illegal to have a display that is different than the actual stock item. I did get my money back without a problem, so my pocket book was happy even though I was disgusted since it did cost in gas money and time to make the return item trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good D/A at a great price The sander seems well constructed, is very light and the controls work well for this lefty. Only drawback is the air requirements. Although my compressor is rated about 5 scfm at 90psi, it still is not enough for this sander. The compressor runs constantly and the sander slows down but does keep spinning. I think the actual air requirements are closer to 8 scfm but under spec'ing the air requirements seems to be pretty common on less expensive D/As. That said, it's worth buying as long as you have a compressor that can keep up.
