I would say that is quite normal depending on how you are using the gun. If you blow dust off of something using short busts of the trigger the compressor will kick on and try to replace lost air in the tank. How ever if you keep the trigger pulled you will quickly drain all of the air stored in the tank and the compressor cannot possibly keep up with the flow of air through the gun. Best to use in short bursts giving your compressor time to recover.

What kind of tank would i need to go along with this air gun? And can i get this gun with a longer barrel, i want to blow my garage and drive way.

To get the greatest flow, you will want to have a high flow quick coupler and plug on the unit. Husky also have extensions for this blow gun. (See model number HDA51600 online or in your store) For a tank size, it will depend on how you are using it. If you are using it intermittently, a smaller tank size would be sufficient. To blow out a garage continuously, a 60 gallon or larger tankwould be needed.

What are the specs of the nozzle?

The blow gun comes with 1/4 inch NPT female threads. The plug is sold separately. It produces 88% more air flow than standard blow guns. Meets OSHA Standards.

What is the recommended psi?

90 PSI is what we recommend. We do not recommend that you go higher but you could go lower if you need less air flow.

You'll notice a difference with just using this high performance blow gun without the high flow accoutrements. You've spent $14 on this item so what's another $7 for the high flow couplers. Even with a six gallon compressor, the high flow accessories will allow you to get the most out of your Husky high performance blow gun.

Will this work with the makita hot dog compressor.

Depending on your air hose connectors (inner bore size) this will likely drain a hotdog compressor in a very short time. Used with my 60gal compressor and high bore fittings it pushes a TON of air.

This thing is a BEAST! I use it to air dry washed cars and parts and my 60gal compressor almost struggles to keep up. It's pretty well built for a consumer-use tool. The only drawback is, it's loud, but that's why we use hearing protection. WHAT?!

Powerful and comfortable to use
This is a good blow gun. It is definitely powerful and the "ultimate flow tip" works just as defined. It pulls additional air into the tip as it is blowing. The large trigger is comfortable and makes it easy to use. It did not come with a 1/4" NPT connector. They are cheap, to be fair, but it seems like it would be easy enough to include the connector with the blow gun. My only problem with the tool is the size of the threads for the tip. I would prefer if I could use "normal" sized blow gun accessories with this high performance version. I have not done so yet, but a bushing will be necessary to make those accessories fit. You can see the size difference in my photos.

Powerful blast of air
I really appreciate the force of the blast of air from this Ultimate Flow Tip. It does a really great job in my workshop. I use it to blow the sawdust and dirt out of the cracks in the boards on the floor, and workbench area.
