Can this be easily assembled by one person?

I did it by myself, but once it was in my truck, it was a little hard to remove by myself so i just opened the box and removed the parts one by one

Does this shelf have adjustable legs/feet, if my floor is uneven?

No. The vertical elements have plastic covers on the ends for safety, but no means to make any fine adjustments for leveling.

What size is the box in which these are sold? (will it fit in the back of a small hatchback?)

It sure will. It would also fit in your back seat. It is only as long as the shelves are.

Does this Shelving come with casters?

no casters in the box. not sure I would use casters with this style shelving unit. If you want to move it around buy the wire grid style shelving.

Does it matter which side of shelf faces upward?

Asked by Dan September 9, 2015

Shopman’s Answer was fully correct. Can they be installed either way? Yes. Are they stronger with the solid steel lip facing down than with the lip facing up? Yes.

How do I get the couplers apart?

Tap sideways with a hammer. I put mine too far down to start and another post upside down and had to take off but tapping with hammer and screwdriver did the trick.

Is the unit stable with only 4 shelves and free standing away from a wall?

Asked by Mike December 17, 2015

Answers

The unit is highly stable free from the wall; however, the rigidity comes from the shelves. Fewer shelves create less stability. However, if you didn't load it as heavily, four shelves should be fine.

Can I use this in an outdoor storage shed?

Yes, it is a unit for any structure you choose. It is painted.

Is this adjustable?

Yes this model has four adjustable shelves.

According to the illustration, it appears that the shelves can be separated in height and extended in length by not stacking all the units. Yes?

That's correct. I've done this with 2 of these units.

Have had NO issues
Looking through the reviews on this shelf, (of which I own 3 of them, and have several hundred pounds on each of them), I really cannot understand why so many people are having the kind of problems they are having. I do understand if the wrong parts are in the box, this would have me ticked to say the least. The only issue I ran into, was the cheap plastic "feet", that once I had substantial weight on the shelf, these popped (busted apart), no biggie, so I left them off the other bottoms, and put on top. I have seen some photos of bent uprights, which would only take a few licks with a hammer to correct. If the clips are not used, yes the shelf will bow, but, if you don't put them together correctly, how do you expect them to support the listed weight?? I am in need of another shelf, and this one I will make two shorter shelves. No I am not a Husky employee, I'm just another DIY doing the best I can with what I can afford, sure I could build some wooden shelves, that would support 2000 lbs per shelf, but since I'm currently renting, shelving that I can take apart and put up again on the next move, these are perfect. The picture only shows two of three shelves I have, those amplifiers on the shelf, weigh about 100 pounds each, on the one shelf, there is over 600 lbs. And the speaker horns on top are about 90 lbs. a piece.

Missing bracket and Home Depot is worthless at helping
Got it fully assembled in my basement only to discover its missing a side bracket. Home Depot said they’d contact the manufacturer to have the missing part sent and they did not. Called back and, apparently, the onus of obtaining the missing part is on me. Manufacturer has yet to pick up the phone when I call. Not a happy camper.

You Won’t be disappointed
I’m glad that I spent the extra money to get this quality metal shelving versus the plastic ones that Home Depot sells. Not only was the shelving easy to put together but it is very sturdy and looks awesome in my garage so I went back and purchased the Husky rolling tool drawer. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to organize the garage.

Great shelving system. I've no doubt it'll meet its weight support ratings, though I'm still finding "stuff" to load up on it. Moderate difficulty to assemble with one person (I did) due to the flexing of the support posts making aligning the shelves to the mounting holes a bit tricky. Looks excellent in red, and the powdercoated(?) paint feels great and durable (posts, shelves, grates, everything). Post endcaps are plastic and break pretty easily, though I wouldn't call these a necessity in the first place unless you're setting this up on an easily scratched surface (who doesn't want a storage rack in their living room with hardwood floors?!). So why only four stars? I also bought the 4-Tier 77" model, which is a beast, and what I expected for this obviously less substantial system. Check out the photo: 48" on the left, 77" on the right. Of course, this is probably due to optimization of materials for desired ratings, and I am not concerned that this shelf won't live up to it's ratings. If given more resolution in the ratings, I'd give this a 4.2, so rounding down to 4. I still fully recommend.

Check/measure your parts first!!
Shelves were reasonably easy to assemble AFTER we figured out that one of the 'long' side braces was about an inch shorter than all the others - making it impossible to get all of the shelves connected. We struggled for hours trying to figure out why nothing was working when all of the reviews said how easy assembly was. Finally we decided to start measuring everything and noticed the shorter piece. Decided to keep it anyway since the shelves do seem sturdy and returns didn't seem worth the hassle, but definitely wish I had looked at all the parts closer when we got everything out of the box. Hopefully this review saves someone the lost time and frustration we went through!

This shelving unit it incredibly stable. It was also very easy to assemble. Make sure you have a rubber mallet and level handy. It's deep enough to store some of my plastic storage bins 3 in a row.

After reading all the prior reviews, I felt confident that I could put it together myself, that it would fit in the back of my Dodge Dart and that I had zip ties to further stabilize the shelves and the sides. All of that feedback was spot on. It EASILY fit into my Dart. I only had to fold one seat down. It was very heavy so I sent my son and husband. They did curbside and the employee needed their help to load it. They have now included metal clips to keep the shelves in place, but I'll be darned if I could figure out how they worked. So I just put a zip tie through the hole and the shelf on opposing corners and that did the trick. Also, where the two sides join when you stack them, there's no connectors. Gravity keeps it together. I added a zip tie into each of those pieces as well just in case. I am not handy, and neither is my husband but I did own a mallet and after assembling up to the second shelf, we realized I had one of the shelves misaligned and had to take it mostly apart to fix it. As I said, I'm not handy. Normal people probably wouldn't have had this issue. It's very sturdy and I have 3 66-gal totes on each shelf and the top. It's a great shelving unit for the price. I amy buy another one for the other side of my garage.

False Advertisement
The description of the product advertises that it can hold up to 5000lbs total with 1000lbs on each shelf. I put a sheet of plywood on the 2 shelves on top of the wire sheet so that the weight will be evenly distributed when I install four 10 gallon tanks on each of the two shelves. This means that the 2 shelves will have about 500lbs on each shelf from the tanks filled with water. Even though I used half of the capacity it advertised it could hold, the shelf collapsed. The wire sheet bent and the horizontal beams were bent too. Water and broken glass were all over the floor. The wooden floor was scratched up and ruined by the broken glass and water.
