Q:Can this connector be used to splice Thermostat Wire together?

    Answer This Question

A:  You can use any wire that is up to the amp shown on the connector. If you use a solid wire it can go in easier. If you use stranded wire it's a little more difficult to push in because it's not as strong as a single solid wire.

A:  Hi Daniel no the wire is too small. Look in the low voltage bay in the store for what are called Jelly Bean connectors used for older telephone wiring. There is a red and a yellow connector either one can splice the cable. Hope that helps Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

A:  Hey Robert the high strand small guage wire will probably not work with the push-in wire connector I would use a Wirenut Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

          by|Oct 24, 2022

A:  The one Home Depot sell will work if you have solid wire and your in the range of the connector, otherwise use a wire nut. More expensive lever connectors will work with both solid and stranded.

            by|Oct 23, 2022

A:  Yes these connectors will work.

I absolutely love these In-sure connectors, whether it's the 2-port, 3-port, 4-port, or others. I'm currently using these to pre-wire outlets and switches for installation in my workshop. They're so easy to use and I know once they have the wire inserted, it's there for good. No hassles of twisting wires together with an iffy wire nut. I also used them to re-wire my florescent lights to eliminate the ballast and use unshunted tombstones to convert them to use LED bulbs. They provide a nice, clean, finished look to any electrical wiring project.

                Truly the best!
Bought a pack to install recessed lighting in my den and they work great! Saw another electrician using them and decided to try them. Glad I did! Much simpler and holds better than the twist on type. I highly recommend these!!!

                  Great concept
Great concept in connecting wires. I had no issues with solid copper wire. Braided copper wire had a tendency to pull out easily. Instructions are small and minimal.

Purchased to splice stranded wire from a bathroom fan to the solid wire from the switch. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the stranded wires to fully plug in. I’m sure these work fine, as many companies have push in connectors pre installed on their assemblies. I ended up using a lever connector instead.

Great product at a reasonable price. One thing that would make it even better is the latch that other wagos have that allow for easy removal of the wire. Other than that, works great.
