These 3 pole disconnects are designed to be used with ballast equipped lighting fixtures. They allow you to easily and quickly change out burnt out ballasts without having to deal with wire nuts. These will slip through a ½ inch round knockout box opening. They are rated for 6 Amps @ 600 Volts and will work with solid wire from 18 AWG to 12 AWG, and stranded wire from 18AWG to 12AWG depending on the number of strands of wire. They claim to be the first push-in luminaire disconnect that fully meets the National Electical Code for non-residential fluorescent fixtures with ballasts. The wiring instructions are behind the cover of the packaging. You need to tear open the cardboard to see the instructions hidden behind the flap. A down side is that there is no easy way to release the wires once pushed in, so don’t make any mistakes. This also means that when a ballast goes out, you cannot reuse the connector half on a new ballast. If they had provided a way to reuse the connector I would have given them more stars on the review. The printing molded into the plastic is very small and difficult to read. I ran a pencil over the raised print to make it readable.

For anyone needing to change out ballasts for lighting or change lighting positions often this is the device which will make the job incredibly easier. It is a simple matter of cutting and stripping the wiring from the light or ballast to the power source and plugging in the wiring ends into the lighting side of the disconnect then doing the same thing from the power source side of the wiring. The instructions are explicit about the holes into which each of the wires is to be plugged. The two prepared ends of the disconnect are keyed to a single fit and a simple push, turn and snap puts the two ends together for a snug fit which can then be disconnected if the light or ballast needs to be replaced or moved. Many lights can be prepared to be interchanged with a single power source end.

I think these are going to be a hit in the market, very handy connectors that can handle up to 6 Amps and connect three wires. These connectors are designed so that they can only be plugged together one way, preventing any form of miss-connection, (so long as the wires are of course inserted correctly in the first place!). Though slated for connecting lights, I am certain this will be can be used in numerous situations where sets of three wires (that need not carry more than 6 Amps) need to be easily disconnected and connected again. The load side wire gauge is limited to 14 AWG and smaller and does need to be tin bonded according to the table on the instruction sheet. One can however insert two wires for each of three connectors on the load side. Wires do need to be stripped first about ½” and then they are simply pushed in. They go in easily and are held tight without having to tighten any screws. Note: the wires cannot be removed once inserted. The holes of the wires are color coded, black solid, black broken line, and white These will be ideal for model train layouts for connecting power districts to digital boosters and power supplies.

Over the years Ideal has been making some great products and these don't disappoint. These are great for installing lighting. No more twist on caps fumbling around dropping one and having to get back off the ladder to pick it up. Fits through 1/2 in. knockout so you can terminate the wire at the wall or ceiling, do the same at the fixture you want to use and just plug them in together, very simple. Terminating these is super easy. There is a line on the side of the connector showing you how much to strip, then you just push the wire in the hole! These are almost as big around as a penny and as long as a AAA battery. So make sure you have the clearance for them to fit in your fixture

Can even connect multiple light transformers if needed. Basically one end gets the wires in the light box in the ceiling (or wall), This is the orange side. The other side, with white, takes the wires from the transformer or light wires. Then they plug together. The wires are pushed in and held snuggly. Additionally the plug is 'keyed' so you can't mis-connect things if you insure you follow the letter coding on the plastic connector. Only downside I see is if you replace a light, you will need to either swap out only one side of the plug or cut an re-wire it. But the benefit is worth it.

Connectors are great time savers, pre wire ballast lights then install with click together connectors. just completing hanging some fixtures in my metal building made the job so much quicker to hang and wire . They will work with solid 12 - 18AWG and stranded wire 12-14 AWG , They will also slide thru a 1/2 knockout .designed for easy quick connect of hot wires with no contact to bare conductors. simple wire incursion with positive connections. Coded ends so you don't mix up sequences. Makes you work look very neat and professional. No method for reuse them once wire is inserted
