The cutout size for this door is: 8-1/4"w x 13-3/4"h
If the would swing freely before you installed it in the panel, then there must be something with the install causing it to bind. Did you ad a spacer to the wood panel to take up the width so it meets the minimum thickness? Perhaps the hole you cut is pushing the door out of shape when installed. It's been a while but I think the minimum thickness of the door was around 1.25". I would suggest removing it right away before the plastic frame comforts to the distorted position and stays there. Hope this helps.
We have small and large cats. Larger cats can get through if they hunker down. If I did it again I would definitely get the larger option.
Did not paint ours as the door was white, but most plastic will hold paint as long as you scuff it with some fine sandpaper first and use a high quality paint. Depending on what color you want, there are some spray paints specifically for plastic and they stick like crazy.
I think so. I installed it in a door to the outside.
If you can cut the hole no problem. Then if the screws will not fasten through the resin you could cement/ glue it in place instead
You could install it that way, but the auto shut feature wouldn't work. It requires gravity to shut the door and magnets to maintain closure.
Yes, it will work. It is also easy to install. We did have to train the cats though to go in and out from the door.
This is not a great idea. Maybe an engineered french door could stand up to the movement but a normal wooden french door may not. Just too much pressure at times
