Answer

Hi Tiffany, I'm sorry to hear about this. The knockout plug is not replaceable because it is part of the plastic construction of the overall unit. It is actually broken off from the disposer when it is removed. We do not recommend capping the area because it creates a potential failure point on the disposer. We recommend replacement of the entire unit.

What do you buy if you have a new Evolution Select and the enclosed 90 degree elbow discharge 1-1/2” tube is not long enough to reach down to trap?

Don't use this, Use a flanged 10 inch straight pipe and cut the end to fit between the elbow and the other end of drain. They make shorter ones but without seeing your, I suggested one on the longer side.

To violate your homeowners insurance. Due to the violation of building/plumbing code in all 50 states. There's even a Youtube video from a guy in florida, listing 4 plumbing items to stay away from. Shows the violation of code on video.

This product should have a higher rating. For those complaining about having to slip the flange over the flared end of this discharge tube: this flange has a slightly larger hole than the one that comes with the disposal. This is so you can gently force the flange over the lip of the tube. I'm sixty years old with arthritis in both hands, and I didn't have any trouble. And, yes, there are no instructions, but common sense tells me the grey washer goes inside the tube and the black washer goes over the lip and sits below the flange. I was expecting this to be a pain in the neck, but it made the job so easy. I didn't have a disposal before, so the discharge tube didn't line up with the existing plumbing. It was about an inch high. I was able to curve this tube, line it up, and tighten it down in just a couple of minutes. I used this to install an Insinkerator Badger disposal.

Easy installation
Customer review from insinkerator.com logo
I found it easy to slip on the red plate over the lip of the pipe by inserting it through the hole and then used thumb pressure to push it over. Took only a few seconds and no heating used. I then fitted the black washer with the inner groove over the lip. I did not use the grey washer at all, did not see the need for it. I had a screw type fitting at the drain end on my plumbing and used the existing washer and threaded cap to fit this pipe to the drain line. Connected the flexible drain pipe assembly to the new disposal unit before installation, Everything worked fine, no leaks.

Terrible Instructions...Even Online
Customer review from insinkerator.com logo
This product works once you figure out how to install it. The product itself has very little information. You must go online or to YouTube to see it better. One thing I would add is that when using this tube and a disposal unit that has a flange, DO NOT USE THE BLACK RUBBER GASKET PROVIDED WITH THE DISPOSAL UNIT. THE RUBBER SEAL PROVIDED WITH ( AND THEN INSTALLED OVER ) THE FLEXIBLE TUBING ACTS AS THE SEAL. You install the tube with the rubber seal into the discharge hole and then tighten with the flange. This may seem obvious to some but it was not to me. The disposal installation instructions and the tube instructions are independent of each other. So, if you had a previously installed disposal unit or are installing one for the first time you probably will have installed the gasket first before installing the tube. This leads to using two seals, one inside the disposal unit and one on the tube. This resulted in a huge water leak once installed and run. Only after thinking it over did I figure out the problem. This should be included in the instructions and not left for one to discover the hard way. In summary, the part works but the installation instructions ( or lack thereof ) need to be revised.

Poor packaging
Customer review from insinkerator.com logo
Took too much time to install. The written instruction on the website is extremely confusing. Should have image showing how the parts should be assembled on the Package. Instead of letting the customer go and find the install instruction. Why not provide instruction on how to assemble via a simple image diagram on the package? Need new packaging with assembly image instruction to improve selling of your product?

Easy to install but a little disconcerting that the mounting bracket has to be forced over the tube lip, deforming the tube lip in the process.

I've replaced disposers at two houses recently, and both of them had old InSinkErator units with the drain line offset 6" from the disposer centerline. The new units have a 5" offset using the drain tube provided with the disposer. This flexible tube can be used to match the old 6" offset without the need to modify the existing drain piping under the sink. This worked great at both houses and makes the replacement job much easier.
