Due to the house heater being too far away, I waste a lot of water getting it to my sink. Measured 2+ quarts before hot water arrives. I would like to hook this up to my bathroom sink faucet. I only use maybe a half gallon to gallon at a time. Shaving, washing hands, etc. I have a limited space also. What’s you opinion?
Asked by: Matt
Hi Matt! Thanks for reaching out. Our hot water tank is specifically designed to be used with a dispenser faucet and not compatible with bathroom sink faucets. This appliance instantly delivers near-boiling 200°F water and not ideal for hand washing.

The hottest it NOT 210. I do various teas and particular about steeping temperature. This was only heated to 200-202 max. Tried from a full tank, tried running a bit first, etc. Is is because mines defective or the tank is not really precise? and please dont ask me to call customer service. Just need a quick answer/input so I can decide to exchange or live with it.

From the installation instructions: "Factory temperature pre-set is 200 ̊F (93 ̊C) (205 ̊F (96 ̊C) for HWT-HP Tank)). To reset the thermostat to 200°F (93°C) (205 ̊F (96 ̊C) for HWT-HP Tank)), turn the indicator one notch to the right of vertical. After adjusting, depress the tap handle for 20 seconds for water to re-heat to the new setting"

Can this unit be used in series with regular hot water line to provide hot water through the hot faucet in a bathroom sink.
Asked by: olddiyer
No, the type of tubing used to fill the tank can only handle cold water. If hot water is regularly fed through the blue tubing it will deteriorate from the heat. Notice that temperature-resistant silicone and copper tubing is used to deliver hot water out of the tank.

Product works as advertised... until it begins to leak, all over your kitchen cabinet and whatever is below. Other appliances hold hot water but manage to avoid leaks -- dishwasher, washing machine, obviously hot water heater. This one, no. Manufacturer has gotten good reviews previously for offering large discounts upon failure. Those discounts are no longer. Now the best available discount is pretty modest -- 35% opening offer from their telephone staff; and even that, applied to the inflated prices on manufacturer's web site, prices that are substantially higher than at low-cost e-retailers like here. They want customer to think 35% off a replacement is a good deal. To my eye, it is not. At this price, product should work longer and replacement should be available on better terms. I can't feel good about this product in light of price, failure, and deceptive marketing of replacement. Recommend an alternative or just heating your water the old fashioned way.

I've installed three instant hot tanks in 12yrs, in a heavy use family kitchen - pretty good. This is a great unit, installs as easy as it gets. However the dimensions listed are for the box not the product. The product not including the flange on top 11 1/4" H x 6 1/4" W x 7 3/8" D. This is very important when replacing with a similar unit. Also I was not able to find a cross reference to my previous unit I installed 5-6 years ago. The tank is two peaces, top & bottom, bolted together with at gasket between the flanges. It seems the cycles over time eventually break the seal and it begins to leak. The tank is vented to atmosphere so the top 1/4 of the tank leaks out and then it stops. Then every time you use the unit, it refills the top of the tank and it drains out again. Put a tray under the unit with a moisture sensor alarm to prevent water damage to the cabinet for when it eventually begins to leak.

If you are replacing the unit (because they only last a couple of years before the tank (hidden under the countertop) rots and leaks water ,down under the subflooring, and the walls and ceiling below, (which is usually unnoticed until thousands of dollars worth of damage has been done), then you should know these are sold WITHOUT the Female Snap-Connect Coupling that MUST be used to connect to the Male coupling which is permanently built on the heater, (no options around this), and Home Depot doesn't sell the coupling for the heater they sold you. The only way to get the coupling is to buy a new faucet with the heater for another $120+, or risk buying one for $9.00on e-bay from an unknown vendor who will then charge you $11.99 for shipping. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

The only problem is they only last about 6-7 years before they start leaking. It's a well documented design flaw that has never been fixed. ISE gave me a new unit the first time, then a 35% discount the second time. I actually found a better-than-35%-off price at Home Depot vs ISE, so I used my discount for a new hot/cold faucet - which also has longevity issues!
