What is the cost of use (compared to a Keurig) ?

I don't use a Keurig so can't speak to that specifically, but I can say that having instant hot water for tea, soup, any instant food item like oatmeal, rice, etc., has meant I use it so often that it's as necessary in my kitchen as the main faucet in my sink.

Hi Cal, the power module is not included. This is part of the SinkTop Switch Kit. It has a dual outlet where you can plug in a disposer and hot water dispenser. It can be purchased at any home improvement centers and online retailers.

how much does the box weigh?

Surprisingly light, right out of the box. When filled with water it will gain weight, however, if you install into the frame of your cabinet you shouldn’t have any issues with it being “too heavy”. Additionally, as compared to other hot spots I’ve owned, this one looks nicer above the counter, but only delivers a fraction of the hot water I’ve seen from a KitchenAid we had for years. Pros and cons with everything I guess.

What is the difference between the Hot 100 and the Hot 150?

Asked by Timewarpone January 17, 2020

Answers

We have had the instant hot water dispenser for several years. We find is very useful in our kitchen. Example--when a recipe calls for boiling water, we don't have to take time to boil water we just use the dispenser. We are tea drinkers and it is easy to get a hot cup of tea. If something would happen with this one, we would quickly replace it.

Install was not exactly straight forward. Water temp can't be turned all the way up, It sputters and spits hot water and steam. I am enjoying it mostly. Have had it about a month, hopefully it doesn't start to leak.

Works Great, Looks Great. Installation was a breeze except for hooking it up to a supply line. I ended up making 2 trips to my home depot for parts, adapters etc... I even put in an inline 1/4 in. valve. This way I can shut off the water to the hot water tank without shutting without shutting off the water to the faucet.

I liked this product very much. It was easy to install. Just took minutes and we were and running. We like the handle to just push back. Old model with round knob was hard to turn with wet hands.

1. This is my second instahot, I have the the Involve view in another house. Love it. 2. This is a less pricy version and works great. 2.1 The tanks are the same in both version, the different in price is ONLY related to the warranty (3 years vs 1 year). 2.2 There are 3 different faucet in this price range ($200 +-) IF YOU HAVE small kids get the button or the knob because they can get burned. If you are adult and or you have problems with your grip strength get the one with the lever (which is the one I have). 3. You need tome type of T connection to connect it to the Cold water inlet. It does not come with any adapter. My solution was to replace the shut off valve with a double out (3/8 and 1/4) compression fitness shout off valve. I got mine in ACE but I am sure HD has it. The fitting for the instahot is 1/4. I'm not a pro.

(What's this)
I've owned several Insinkerator hot water dispensers over the years and this is my favorite so far. The HOT150 has a very attractive faucet and I really like the goose neck spout and spring loaded lever handle. The installation of the faucets, tank and connections and is a snap for the homeowner or professional. The instructions are very simple and the diagrams are helpful with the installation. The tank when heating is a little noisy, but overall it is perfect for having instant hot water at the sink.

(What's this)
This is a very nice hot water kit that works as good at it looks. This kit includes everything needed to install the hot water dispenser in a kitchen or bar sink minus the cold water fittings to supply cold water to the unit. The unit is very nicely built; the hot water faucet is heavily chrome plated and has a nice mirror finish. The hot water tank is nice and large holding two thirds of a gallon of preheated water. The tank is housed in a nice thermo plastic housing that has a dial on the front to select a range of water temperatures. Install is very straight forward; install the faucet into an existing sink top hole (we removed a pump dispenser), install the faucet retainer and tighten. Then hang the hot water tank and install the three hoses from the faucet to the tank, these are slip fit and quick coupler, then plug the unit into a standard grounded outlet. The only connection left is the cold water supply. I had to lengthen the supply line about 8" since my cold water tap was further than the 24" supply line would reach. You will also need to decide how you want to tap into your cold water supply. I added a 3/8" to 1/4" Tee at the shut off valve. Purge the unit and enjoy hot water. The only negative is that the supply line could have been longer than 24"; 36" would have been much better for my install. Overall this is a very nice unit that is easy to install and makes lots of hot water for tea, hot chocolate or whatever you need.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
Over the years I have owned several different model Insinkerator instant hot water dispensers, installed in different residences. In general these have all worked well, although the life expectancy of the tanks has sometimes left much to be desired. This latest acquisition was necessitated by a broken handle on the old dispenser (a different Insinkerator model) – which was installed over 10 years ago – so yes, in this case the old unit lasted a long time! I like that the stainless metal finish of the dispenser faucet complements my satin stainless sink faucet and the charcoal color of my sink very nicely and it easily fit into the standard sink mounting hole (see picture). Mounting the unit into the counter and to the reservoir and water line (see picture) was reasonably easy -- I have moderate DIY plumbing experience, and it would have taken me about 20 minutes to complete, except that I needed to return to the store to get an extension for the copper line in order to reach my water supply line (I think the copper tube built into the unit is just too short for many situations -- another 6” of copper line was all that was needed to complete the job). I know from my own past experience, installation time is largely a function of the ability to reach the deck under your sink (I have a large double sink, with pretty good under-cabinet space to move around). The unit heated up quickly (5 minutes at initial startup), and provided ample hot water for most purposes. Dispensing water was easy, just turned the small lever (see picture). I am moderately disappointed by the 1-year (in-home) warranty that comes with this unit, as it suggests the manufacturer is not overly confident of the product's reliability. In my mind, this is a fairly expensive product that in normal situations gets rather limited use, and it deserves better particularly as the manufacturer states it has a stainless steel tank. I have reduced my rating to 4-stars to reflect this limitation, particularly since my prior experience with similar units made by Insinkerator was in some cases, disappointing – that the unit it replaced lasted so long was I think, unusual. One word of caution to DIY buyers who are installing a unit like this for the first time: before you leave the store with your new dispenser, be sure you have a compression T-fitting that is compatible with the supply line of this unit, because it is not included with this product and you will need one to install this dispenser; otherwise, you will probably find yourself heading back to the store to get one. Also, if your water supply line is located more than about 15” from the dispenser location, you may need to purchase materials to extend the line as I did. I just installed this unit today, and on the basis of this limited period of use I would recommend the product to others.

(What's this)
I’ve yet to install this unit but from inspecting it and going over the instructions it’s pretty impressive. The beautiful chrome finish will fit in perfectly in my classic craftsman kitchen. It doesn’t feel cheap or plastic like some other accessory faucets. The handle turns smoothly and automatically returns to off when you let go. The tank itself is fairly large but I don’t think there’s any way around that. It mounts nicely to the wall under you sink so it doesn’t take up floor space in that cabinet. There are two things to be aware of. First, the spout does not rotate. It’s in a fixed position relative to the base and so you’ll need to plan you install carefully since you’re stuck with wherever it’s aiming (hopefully over the sink...) Second, the water supply connects with a soft copper pipe. They recommend you install a tee fitting on your supply and connect the copper with a compression fitting. You may be able to rig up some alternative arrangements but I personally prefer to use standard braided supply hoses for situations like this. Note: this is a pre-install review because I wanted to get feedback on this new product available quickly. I will revise this review once I have completed my kitchen remodel and gotten to use it thoroughly.
