Answer This Question
A:Â Hi Shan! Thanks for your question. In general, we do not test our products and accessories for compatibility with other manufacturer's parts and products. You may have to reach out to your disposer's manufacturer to know what size of wrench you would need. I hope this helps.

Q:I put the wrench in and it's easily turning no matter which way I turn it..I thought it was supposed to be hard to turn or some resistance..nothing is happening..still clogged, not draining

Answer This Question
A:Â You are right it should be hard to turn and eventually clears. Unless you can see where the wrench goes in case that area been damage I have no clue why it would be just turning.

A: You probably have a drain issue, not an disposal problem. If you get power when you turn on the drain and can hear the motor run and spin, then you need to open up the piping under the sink to see if you can clear what might be causing the backup near the sink. If it’s clear there, then you have another issue further down the line possibly requiring professional service. Good luck!

A:Â Hi Deeskiiii, your tool turning freely means the disposer isn't jammed, so it's possible a clogged drain line. A:Â Try running ice cubes through the disposal. The ice will clean the agitator and hopefully clear the obstruction.

A:Â It happened to me once. Something was stuck and it was hard to turn, if it moves easily maybe the clogged is on the pipes.

Q:Can you use a ratchet tool to unloosen?

Answer This Question
A:Â Not sure what is meant by a ratchet tool. The key is that any wrench that will fit the opening on the sink disposer should work (e.g. large Allen wrench, socket wrench handle with the right size socket)
by|Mar 28, 2021
A:Â Sure. But you want to use a back and fourth motion so this is the tool have and keep near the garage disposal

A:Â Hi Nad, if you no longer have the jam-buster wrench, a quarter inch (1/4" or 6mm) Allen wrench may be used in its place. We have a troubleshooting guide here that may help you fix the issue: https://support.insinkerator.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/515.

Did the trick for unjamming my disposal
This is a nice wrench to leave under the sink for garbage disposal jams, but I was curious if an SAE wrench would have been just fine. I went ahead and measured it with a set of calipers, and diameter of this wrench is just around 6.5mm or 1/4 inch. It matches my 1/4 inch SAE wrench, but 6.5mm is a less common size. See pictures for details.

Did the job, busted the jam.
Once I was able to crawl under my sink, the actual unjaming of the disposal was easy.
