A: The center part can be in the up or down position. In the up position, it sticks up a little bit. In the down position, it is flush or a little lower than the hole. It's a nice product to keep silverware from going into the drain.

A: It's adjustable, turn it clockwise and it closes, and sits almost flush with the hole. Keep turning it and it opens and sits higher than the hole.

A: Hi Brad, the stopper won't let larger food waste enter the garbage disposal unless you remove it from the sink opening. This stopper lets water and small food particles ″in″ the disposer but keeps silverware and other objects ″out″.

A: Hi FaerieElaine, you may use this stopper instead of the rubber piece or what we call sink baffle. However, you need to remove the stopper whenever you put food waste in your garbage disposal. The Silver Saver Stopper works like a conventional sink stopper that lets water and small food particles ″in″ the disposer but keeps silverware and other objects ″out″.

A great step up from plastic stopper

With this stopper and its options, it simply feels more sanitary. I don't feel like my food and clean dishes are exposed to the bacteria that has to linger on the plastic guard of the disposal unit. Nothing cam come in contact with it.
